Introducing New Material: Glass

that’s actually an surprisingly clever behavior

Is there any chance that we could just get some sort of “light influence” value or toggle-able option for any materials individual reflectance ?!

in this case we could simply modify this neat behavior

Having a property that lets us change the refraction would be nice - might also make glass more viable for scopes and such.

Also an option to let all parts hide semi-transparent parts behind them would be nice, for if/when it’s fixed with glass and water.

they would need to implement rather some sort of occlusion shaders or however that stuff is called … the current effect of this is just a inefficient bug

Yeah, at least if they fix the bug they have a baseline idea as to how it’d work, so it should cut development time by a bit.

Quick, someone build a glass house and throw rocks at it!

(On another note, someone should make some sort of shattering effect for glass. Perhaps just split it up into random triangles or whatever.)

how do i get access to glass

just go to materials - select glass

dont have glass, i thought it might be a feature that is given to rbxdev members
maybe i just need to update roblox

edit- update worked, now i have glass

Absolutely fantastic news! No more ‘substituting neon for glass’.

It’s a little distorted, but now we don’t have to mess about with FOV and stuff when making lenses for guns.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature

SOLVED

I don’t know if someone already reported that but my textures don’t show when you add a transparent glass part in front of a texture.

Even if I set the transparency of the part with the textures to 0.5

It’s only working when the texture part is not transparent at all.

Make sure to read the whole first post!

I was too excited to test the new material that i forgot to read everything. Thank you for your help buildthomas.

Currently if you have a green part, with a red part behind it, the filter will still only be green. I’d be nice if you could mix glass to have a mixed filter.
E.g. left part is Color3.new(1,1,0), right is Color3.new(0,1,1)
