I cant wait to see what comes out of this fund. While I cant participate in it I am perfectly happy to watch from the sidelines as new big games are created. Good luck to all participants!
I might have accidentally sent in a false submission while trying to go through and see all that is required to do so. Hopefully that doesnât affect my actual, future submission.
I honestly doubt it.
You may be talented as all hell but if you arenât 18+ then you canât do, and they wonât wanna take chances. I swear, they are gonna bring in some person who doesnât need it and then make it hard for us to make a popular game.
What can you not use the funding for? Can I use it to upgrade my PC setup
I assume anything tied to developing the game.
So if you need to have a better PC so you can test stuff, work faster and etc, I would think it is allowed. But it is also for hiring people, commissioning, advertisting oc, and etc.
does the applicant/team leader need to be 18+ to submit or does the entire team need to also be 18+
I disagree. Millions do make a difference, imagine what you could do with a million, ten-thousand, a thousand, a hundred, or even ten bucks every month. The trickle down effect youâre expecting from a select few getting excessive money is going to be negligent. Compared to millions that could be spent in divvying it up to everyone via increased payouts. Or to improving the engine itself. Which can hardly handle what the majority of other engines can, if at all.
There are a lot of flagship games that were made with a miniscule or non-existent budget. And thereâs a lot of games that have had huge budgets that completely flopped. But throwing money at a handful of people seems so brazenly inconsiderate.
I just think Roblox is taking the wrong course of action when expending so much money.
500k?? With a 500k budget, you could make a hyper realistic FPS game or a really good game.
Hold on, a MINIMUM of $500,000 PER PROJECT!? Thatâs insane! How can you even use all of that on a Roblox game!? This will probably be the rise of many great games!
Pretty happy and impressed that Roblox is doing this sort of stuff!
Good luck!
Every single âhyper realistic FPSâ game Iâve seen on Roblox has flopped. Because peopleâs devices canât handle it or Roblox itself canât handle it.
Phantom Forces as the most popular Roblox FPS game can even get laggy for a lot of people.
Redux was a widely hyped FPS for itâs next-gen-Roblox graphics at the time.
Operation Scorpion just to name another realistic FPS.]
I could go on. Throwing money at a game doesnât automatically make it better. In fact a lot of game developers in the entire industry lose the true luster and passion in the game itself when money becomes an overwhelming goal. And players can see it. Just look at Activision Blizzard (World of Warcraft), or Fallout 76 just to name a few.
Would it be possible to get a summary of each step of the submission process before going through the form? I am never quite certain if there will be another step when I hit the next arrow, or if my current entries are going to be submitted immediately.
Is there more information we will need before submission, after the pitch-deck step?
Holy, thatâs a ton of money. Good luck to anybody who applies, youâll be making some crazy of a game thatâll go beyond every game view
Applied for it and then realized it was in USD, I donât think there is a project on Roblox currently or one in the future that is ever gonna require this much funds to produce, there are a ton of talented developers that can do it for the fraction of the cost. If my ridiculous amount of 750,000$ does get accepted, then I can promise you the best game on Roblox lol
I canât wait to see some of the submissions for this program. This program will be a great way for both new and experienced developers to make a living out of development and this is a step for the right direction.
Good luck to anyone applying!
I donât really like this idea personally. Rather giving a few million dollars to a handul of a developers, why canât you just make the DevEx rate better? Itâll help a quite a bit of developers instead of chosen few.
Wow itâs good too see roblox wanting to get some new games on roblox.
I think maybe money would be given based on how much they need. Like a studio would get 500k and letâs say a Amateur studio gets 100k.
But overall I like the idea.
No, money does usually make a good game.
With money you can hire the greatest builders, scripters, animators, ect.
So yeah, money can make a good game depending on who you hire.
You may hire the best person in every field, you could hire someone who worked for Roblox for 5 years, yet you could make a game that flops.
Money doesnât decide if a game will do good, it is based on factors like:
- Motivation
- Monetization
- Advertising
- Plausibillity
- Quality
This is really amazing, I await to see whatâs going to happen, I hope for the better!
It is a requirement to have finished a project previously?
