Hi. I’m Fifkee.
I found Roblox in–er, 2010? I don’t really remember the full story, but if my mind serves me well, it started with someone recommended the game to me.
I think.
How I got started with development (and where I am right now!) (bits and pieces, might not be 100% accurate)
I got started with development on the platform when I discovered my favorite game on roblox: Avert The Odds. I realized that there was a studio that I could work on, and so I ended up opening it, and building my first structure. And, my God, it was horrible. The most horrendous thing, from what I remember. I strayed from building from a bit, and ended up freemodeling and constructing new freemodeled games.
Now, cut into the 2013 to 2014 area. I started dabbling in coding, leading into making my first script. It was a simple script, composed of mostly Instance.new(a,b)
and Vector3.new
. It was the only thing I knew how to do at the time, so why not make a script about my lack of knowledge? It was about creating a part, positioning it, and sizing it. And, that was my first script. To me, it was impressive. I was able to make a script! I was drowning in euphoria and excitement. And then, I started touching up on my scripting ability for the next 4-5 years. I wasn’t consistently coding through that timespan, but I caught up well.
Now, in around 2015 to 2016. I came across Voidacity’s Script Builder. I joined it, and I had no idea how to use the builder at all. In fact, I ended up leaving it for a bit because of my lack of interest, knowledge, and attention span. A few months later, when I was a bit more experienced, I ended up freemodeling on Voidacity’s Script Builder, and started composing scripts from other people’s work.
In that same time, I met one someone that was important to my active learning. A good friend of mine, and his name was @Darkus_Theory. He supported my journey, giving me tips about efficiency, and how Lua “thinks.” It was fun, I had a rank on his admin tablets called Absolution, and I had it everywhere I went on VSB. I was like a mini-moderator of sorts!
Through Darkus, I met lots of great people, such as imtellingmommy, tusKOr661, Jacq_83, Mais_Doggo, sircfenner, MrKelvinVIP, insert_username, Nolicaiks, DoogleFox, and Mugex. (I’d put in more, but that would be way too long.)
Anyways, after my Voidacity era, I ended up moving to AntiBoomZor’s Script Builder for a bit. I also met Ambient_Occlusion and Vaeb, which both banned me for rather… questionable reasons, but ended up tolerating me once I learned how to script like a “professional.” I lurked there for a bit, and that’s when my ability to code skyrocketed. Freemodels without the owner’s permission were not allowed there at all, and it was a strict policy at that. You’d be ridiculed for even having them in your library! So, that meant I had to get better, and fast. And so I did, I spent most of my time on the wiki, and I asked a bajillion questions. I was intolerable, and I wasn’t really liked at the time. I ended up putting my knowledge to use, and I started composing scripts, using CFrame:lerp
like an intelligent person, and formatted my scripts in the recommended fashion. And, due to this intelligence, I ended up becoming somewhat likable in the community! People would stop insulting me relentlessly, and acknowledged me for my growth. I was astonished with my growth, as well!
Now, to 2017 to 2018. I met two of my great friends–RGeeneus and RCaca3! They made the fantastic game called “Food Empire,” and boy, I enjoyed that so much to the point where I wanted to make my own take on it! And, so I did. It’s an old game, I don’t really work on it since I don’t have any food ideas–and I guess that’s what happened with the original game, too. I might pick it up later and remake the entire thing.
Anyways, RGeeneus was also a big help in my coding experience–and he still is! He’s a funny and great guy, and don’t be afraid to talk to him if you see him. He taught me light trigonometry, and he also taught me how to make my own placement system. Aaaand, he also taught me how to work with datastores efficiently. It was great! I was proud of my creation too, as it took months to finish (like any good game would take, actually.) I still talk to him casually, or when I need help, but it’s good to know he’s always there for me if I have any questions or concerns.
Well, that’s it! All of my memorable experiences, all in one spoiler. :^)
I code. That is all.
Anything else? Er… I’m fourteen and I need friends.
