Hello everyone!
I feel like all of you are not getting a clear enough view of the projects I am currently making. So, I have decided to make a new series called “Development Sneak Peaks”, where I show new features that I have built between each Development Sneak Peaks article. I will be posting these articles occasionally with no specific date.
This Monday, I have started my new project in full force, the first time I have made such a start to a project yet (I am sorry for all of the delays that unfolded previously). That project is apart of the new Quinault Science Corporation group I created not too long ago. So, without further ado, lets dive right in!
Introducing The Kepler Research Facility (KRF)
(yes, that is the actual logo, very complex)
The Kepler Research Facility is an entirely underground facility owned by the Quinault Science Corporation which was named after the famous astronomer Johannes Kepler. As the logo shows, the facility was founded in 1957, and is located in the southwest Olympic Mountain Range in northern Grays Harbor County in Washington State. It is the headquarters for Quinault Science Corporation. Before the Kepler Research Facility, the company’s headquarters were located in Bellevue, Washington (Across Lake Washington from Seattle).
A rough estimate of where the facility would be located if it were real. (Credit goes to Google, obviously)
The game takes place in 1988, the company is struggling after the Milwaukee Road (Railroad) abandoned its Pacific Extension in the early 1980s. The Quinault Science Corporation heavily relied on the Milwaukee Road to ship goods out of the facility. Even though Burlington Northern (another railroad) took over the line leading to the facility, the company’s production rate was severely crippled due to them taking several months to purchase the rail line that was formerly owned by the Milwaukee Road.
More information about the facility and company will come with the release of the extended lore, which I still have yet to start.
Game Development
Moving onto the more technical side of things, the place was created on the 4th of July. I added in small things, but I had no idea what exactly to create. So I took a several week break.
Monday, July 18th Pacific Time, I officially started development of this game in full force.
The first thing I decided to work on was the administration center. With nearly a day’s worth of work done in roughly 5 days, the Administration Center is still less than 50% complete. My goal is to have it completed before August. I still don’t have a clear picture of what I will make after that, but I sort of have an idea.
Next Development Sneak Peaks article I make will go more in depth about teams/ranks the game will offer.
