During my time as a builder, I have learned so much, however I feel as if I still lack optimization skills. I build primarily in studio and lean towards a semi-realistic style (images below of what I’m currently working on [to show off my style]). I have learned the common method using less parts to achieve a similar or slightly less detailed look but other than that I know nothing. Does anyone have any other tips/methods to improve optimization?
Increase mesh usage, decrease union usage. Unions cause lag because they require greater time and memory to load, because Roblox is terrible with boolean calculations and usually produces more complex geometry when it comes to unions.
So avoid overusing unions, keep an eye on your partcount, delete any unnecessary parts that don’t affect the appearance/function of your build, and use meshes for more dynamic shapes.
my personal tip is to use pbr materials to add detail without actually increasing part count (also just looks good) and read up on this post from the goat, mrchickenrocket for something more sophisticated than just materials.
also pls fix the horrendous tiling on the walls i can’t take it
