"Moderation Bot" has a huge bug

Please refer to my devforum post for full detail regarding this matter.

Issue:

Hello Roblox Support,

I am writing to report an issue regarding an unjustified ban on my account, as well as to bring attention to a widespread problem affecting many users. I was recently banned from Roblox without violating any community guidelines, and after reviewing my activity, I am unable to determine any legitimate reason for this action.

It has come to my attention that a significant number of users are facing similar issues, where their accounts are being banned seemingly at random, without any clear explanation or evidence of a violation. This appears to be a systemic issue that could be caused by:

  1. False-positive detections in automated moderation systems.
  2. Bugs in the ban system leading to incorrect enforcement actions.
  3. Mass reports leading to automated bans without proper investigation.

I kindly request a thorough review of my account and a clear explanation of the reason for my ban. If this was a mistake, I would appreciate an immediate reversal of the action taken against my account. Additionally, I urge Roblox to investigate the broader issue affecting thousands of users to ensure that innocent players are not unfairly removed from the platform.

Please let me know if further information is required to resolve this matter. I appreciate your time and look forward to your response.

What shold be done instead:

1. Human Review for Serious Bans

Right now, the system is mostly automated, leading to mass false bans. Instead, any ban longer than one day should require a human moderator to review before being enforced. This would prevent innocent users from losing access to their accounts over minor or nonexistent infractions.

2. Clear and Transparent Ban Reasons

Currently, bans come with vague or misleading reasons like “creating or using an account to avoid an enforcement action taken against another account” or “Violating TOS,” which tell the user nothing. Instead, Roblox should provide specific details, such as:
• The exact message, action, or asset that led to the ban.
• The time and place the violation occurred.
• A screenshot or evidence of the violation (other platforms like Discord and YouTube provide this).

3. A Proper Appeal System That Works

Right now, appeals feel like a joke—users get generic copy-paste responses, and most appeals are instantly denied. Instead, the appeal system should:
• Allow users to directly communicate with a real human moderator (not just a bot).
• Provide a detailed review of why the ban was issued.
• Ensure that first-time offenses get warnings instead of instant bans (unless it’s something extreme).

4. Moderation for Actual Problems, Not Just Random Bans

While innocent users are getting banned left and right, actual problems like:
• Scam games stealing Robux,
• Bots the chat,
• Inappropriate content slipping through moderation,
…still exist. Instead of wasting resources on banning harmless players, Roblox should focus on real issues that actually harm the platform.

Can you attach your ban note? A reason is always given.

Not for me. They did not provide a reason for me as well as for thousands of people out there.

My account also got unfairly terminated: Account moderated for the same asset multiple times leading to termination
7 Days after my appeal and still ZERO response.

Same with me man, Your not alone. I really think roblox changed something cause alot of other people are getting banned all of a sudden.

For the people reading this, I’ve not had this issue recently and it’s because of their new moderation AI - If you did get banned, I would file a report on the Roblox Support website and then select your asset or other assets.

In my experience (can only talk in my experience), these reports are reviewed by real moderators (humans) and they are pretty good about reverting moderations back if it’s something about moderation AI that did falsely.

I am sorry but I could not disagree more with you. I have sent 5+ tickets which I get automated responses from. The first two were genuine bots giving me automated responses, the rest 3 might have been real humans because they had like “Cher” or “George” or somebody else replying but they also had their responses copy and paste.

They have lied to me saying “Our team members will respond to you as soon as they can”. It has been 7 days since that. 7 days with no reply whatsoever.
