Need more ways for the community to interact on-platform

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to communication with players. It is also too hard for players to communicate in ways other than in-experience messaging and website chat. We need a way to interact with the community and meet new people, other than through experiences.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because I could announce updates all in Roblox rather than off-platform. It will remove a need to advertise off-platform. Players and developers alike can communicate with each other seamlessly.

How could this all work?

On the website/app there could be a new tab named ‘RoMedia’. RoMedia is a social area of the platform where users and developers alike can post images or videos directly taken from the engine. Developers can use this to showcase new updates they are working on. Players can use this to post fun screenshots from experiences. This also is a way to passively advertise–if players are making posts about your experience, then more players will know about it. Under the post, there is a label that displays what experience the screenshot or video was taken in. When you tap/click it, it pulls up the experience’s page. Players can also post their avatar. Your avatar can be posted by going to the Avatar page on the app and there should be a button to post. When clicking an avatar post, information comes up about what is being worn. Verified Badges carry over. This feature will create another use for the Selfie Mode. This feature will add another use to following people. People who you follow’s posts will appear in the Following tab. The Hot tab will include posts that a lot of people liked or commented on within 24 hours. The pages are meant to be infinitely scrollable, to maximize use. Clicking on the Poster’s icon will take them to their normal Roblox profile. To limit posting, each person can only make 1 post a day, regardless of the type of post it is. The only way to create posts is from the Roblox engine using the screenshot or record function OR from the avatar page (for avatar posts). Anyone can reply to posts, or the Poster can make it so only followers can reply.

  • For uploading screenshots taken in the engine, the moderation should work just like uploading a decal.

  • For uploading recordings taken in the engine, this will require a bot to review it (Since Roblox is [probably] working on VideoFrames being public, they are [probably] working on a bot that reviews content that has multiple frames).

  • In terms of moderating replies, it should work just like comments on accessories/clothing.

  • There should be a report button on every reply and post.

Yeah it’s pretty much a waiting game for technology and there’ll be no human moderators

We had something like this.

The roblox forums.(2006-2017)

After, uh, several issues which i wont name, roblox shut them down. Roblox said they’d make a replacement, yet theres none as we are speaking right now.

You’re suggesting the Roblox Forums here, just modernized.
