My account (which is obviously over 13) has been not been showing sponsored ads nor website ads.
I think a lot of the people saying the user base is 50% >13 is just claiming random numbers.
Here is a good source.

The 54.86% figure comes from Robloxâs investor day.
You can find more here Roblox User and Growth Stats 2022.
I see the restriction of advertisements to 13+ as a positive change overall, excited to see what games will be created now that the ideal audience is more mature.
[URGENT BUG] Unsure if this is a bug or a mistake, but youâre no longer able to sponsor to both 13-16 and 17+ at the same time???
Edit: Looks like the bug was fixed a day after I posted this, thank you!
Youâre prompted with the error âinvalid target age bracketâ if you select both, even though the options are multiple choice.
Costs a bit more to sponsor games now, but for my game not too much of a impact?
Defiantly not viable to sponsor games targeted to under 13s now.
I just dont see it⌠They couldâve at least added a parental setting to disable ads for the users that are U13, but they just decided to make it way more difficult for developers to advertise their games. Its now really hard to seek for motivation and this update just ruins it all.
Yes, sponsored UGCs feature is cool and all, but it just seems like roblox starts to disrespect developersâ dreams into becoming succesful. Its not a very satisfying feeling of seeing your game flop, no matter how well made and interesting it is. We mostly have to rely on other social medias at this point.
I am sorry, but this update seems to negatively impactful small developers like myself. Losing access to 50% of your impressions and still paying the same price for advertisements/sponsorships is unfair. If its a possible solution, create an option to allow parents to toggle ads on and off for their child if they are under 13(like the new game age restrictions) That or possibly reconsider age ranges on sponsored experiences as game icon images seem safer then the roblox ads.
Iâve been working really hard on my game for a year, and it was released a few days ago, with a full monetization model and unique gameplay. But when no one sees the game Iâm making, it feels like all my hard work is for nothing , and itâs a frustrating development experience for new developers.
I released a game on Steam a few years ago and it made me back the $100 I put in pretty quickly, and every new game has a certain amount of exposure, so Iâm not a bad developer
Iâve lost over 3000 ccu over my games targeted to u13 thus far, u13âs is controlled by YouTube now; Iâm sure Roblox will be making search engine changes to make it easier for u13s to find new content to play, currently it seems impossible to gain ccu without YouTubers. Big L for Roblox
Roblox is at it again not listening to their community
The new ad audience update is horrible and another dumb idea. Literally most of roblox players are under 13 years old, just think about new games being released. They will get way less players/visits than before
Yes I agree itâs definitely stressful. I was going to release another tycoon in one week and now I am very worried about my ability to reach younger players.
I hate this change. This not only hurts creators that focus on a younger audience like me. But it is a huge risk for other creators to focus on more mature audiences, people rely on sponsors and advertising to get their games up and you just took that away. Ages 13 to 17 make up less than 20% of the Roblox audience. I donât get how this will help the website in any way.
My game has suffered and if lost player because of this before I would get arround 200k Impressions
Now that number has lowered to 75k
This is HORRIBLE for small developers and group owners like myself⌠prior to this update I was able to run ads/sponsors smoothly and get a good amount of people.
100-500 robux for one day of ads brought 50-200 players!
1000-5000 robux for one day of ads brought semi-active players!
Now that this update has been pushed, I am seeing less than half of the players I would normally see.
100-500 robux for one day of ads is now bringing 5-65 playersâŚ
1000-5000 robux for one day of ads is now bringing 100-300 playersâŚ
Not only is this killing my group and games, but it is also consuming all of my robux just for it to do absolutely no good.
Yeah, this is terrible to just about everyone⌠but I do think that people are being a BIT dramatic.
It would be great if Roblox were to clarify why this change was made.
I imagine itâs because the FTC is now cracking down on ads targeted towards children specifically.
Other large companies, such as Google, do NOT allow advertisements to specifically target those below the age of 13(as Roblox previously allowed).
To me it makes sense to disallow targeting advertisements specifically towards those under the age of 13, but Google also allows those under the age of 13 to see general ads that are targeted towards everyone.
Why canât Roblox do the same?
I fully understand that Roblox cannot just revert this change(as some are asking they do), but why canât users under the age of 13 see general ads(like a target everyone option).
It would be great if Roblox were to allow advertisements to target everyone, including those under the age of 13, so long as they are not deliberately predatory.
Subject advertisements targeted towards everyone to harsher moderation and more regulation. Just do anything asides fully remove it.
This is what I believe, and may not be true.
Peoples price per click has essentially doubled across the board(as far as I have seen).
Roblox needs to come up with something better to at least fix peopleâs cost per click being doubled.
This kills all chances to start as a developer in my opinion,
Itâs as EXTREME as from
5,000R$ for 4,042,498 impression
to having to pay SIX TIMES MORE (600% INCREASE IN PRICE) for LESS impresions!!!
I understand you do NOT allow advertisements to specifically target those below the age of 13 when your company is made of by all groups of ages, predominantly 13+ or when you can advertise gambling, nsfw, etc - but ROBLOX has a total different TOS too compared to Google and other companies
ROBLOX is a platform that has itâs majority (more than half) of players under 13 so this is like shooting yourself in the leg
As suggested above you could instead try to (I know this takes some work, but we developers work too)
A) Prompt parents when they register / when they join after this update to have a option to see ads or not for their kids
B) Have an option to see ads or not for kids
C) Roblox as I said above in theory promotes moderation strict enough to not display content for <13
that they shouldn't see so improve moderation filtering if you consider it's not working as it's supposed to and allow us to still promote content made for <13 to our group target audience
Was that the same ad? If yes, then i see no point of continuing the journey of being a developer. its really now fighting a losing battle. Roblox just closed all the possibilities of becoming successful. They will of course, do nothing about it and will just let it slide. Very demotivating.
