So I put the new textures into the Roblox player and decided to see how Car Crushers looked. It looks really good, but some textures, such as slate, tile too much and don’t have enough randomness. I know this can be hard to make them fit together as separate parts AND to be random, but it really gets on my nerves with all the tiling.
You didnt put it in correctly. In the new builds files theres some scripts so it doesnt do that. You didnt replace the old scripts with the new one in the client so thats why it looks like that.
Ahhh yes. Thank you. That definitely helps.
Edit: If you don’t mind me asking, what are the exact scripts? Are they the ones in platform content?
I believe they’re the ones in platform content.
Yeah I tried that and it looked better. Only issue is now that they are on, the Grass terrain is texture less, and I get frequent lag spikes and ping spikes. I’m not sure if they are optimized yet, and I understand this is a hacky way of doing it, but older devices probably wouldn’t be able to handle them in this state.
I think thats just a you issue. There is zero impact in performance. It uses the same tech and uses the same resolution as the old ones.
According to an earlier post of mine, there is no change in performance. Attempt to restart your device, reset router etc.
Also, the grass terrain does have a texture. Did you copy ALL the files? Just copy the PlatformContent folder as a whole.
Restarting did fix it. Also, the grass terrain texture is there. The same thing that was happening in studio is happening here. When I checked studio, the terrain grass there was also blank, just being green.
Sorry, Its by I never noticed it on the example images before. Being honest I’d prefer support on the old snow texture from the terrain rather than this new material. it feels off and looks like something that came out of surface appearance mesh textures.
I think 0Snow should replace the slate we have in the new material update, this looks much better and i think everyone would be happy about this.

Nevermind, they are still looking at feedback!
roblox i am begging you please make these textures optional, a lot of games are getting ruined by these ones. thousands of roblox games have been built around the old textures and forcing new ones with drastic changes is not a good move.
at first, i was extremely excited upon seeing this post. when i opened my game however, everything looked much more plastic-y…and disappointing for my wasteland game. hopefully it’s better for other people’s style
If a toggle is implemented instead of just simply having them side by side, the old materials will be removed eventually as future interns or whoever 2 - 4 years down the line would assume the fact that there’s a toggle implies it’s ‘deprecated’, and with a little “We here at we we here Robust conversation Feedback innovation One Backward for Ten Steps Forward” word salad, they’d get them removed forever.
well, i did change up my opinion in New Terrain and Parts Materials Preview Build! Oh YES! - #681 by IdontPlayz343
I mean I think that’s still better than them being forced now. Who knows, maybe in 2-4 years roblox could listen to developers outrage rather than do that thing they’re doing now and have been doing since the beginning of time.
Edit: After seeing the much more active forum thread here, I am glad to see that some feedback has been taken in. I’ll be honest, I wrote the original reply here kind of heated after originally hearing the forced update post. I do like some of the new materials coming, like the new wood and wood planks. However, I am also in favor of keeping both the current and modern material textures for the sake of different building styles and also for using (in my opinion) some of the better-looking textures we already had.

Really really doubt that Roblox will actually listen to this, but please allow us to keep using the current (what will soon be legacy) materials and keeping these maintained. I understand Roblox is trying to push for a more professional and modern style. However, as a builder, these new textures end up severely limiting what you can really do with them or what building styles you can work with in my opinion, and can ruin a lot of existing and some currently in-development games. Don’t get me wrong, these materials can be useful for more realistic builds but some of these new materials just end up looking so, so bland for anything else.
I agree, It’d work better for games trying to look like old Roblox, And it may ruin some builds, It’d be cool if there was an switch, To new textures to old textures in your games, The good thing about this though is that there may be part water, that’s great for ALOT of games.
They did, take a look at solution of the newer post about the release build.
I think they’ve redone a couple of the textures, so I’ll be doing a re-review of these.
