i heavily agree with this, i usually would remove the heads from my cages and fill in the hole left by the head+ neck to avoid the issues shown in @Blizzei 's post! please update us on any possible news/workarounds surrounding this. thank you
I would argue that not having specific categories for handhelds and bodysuits would be more confusing than if those categories did exist. Because there isn’t a category for them, it meant that they were previously uploaded as either shirts, t-shirts, jackets or sweaters, and if someone wanted to find a specific kind of handheld item, they might need to search through all of those categories. Same goes for full body suits too, those might be uploaded as either tops or bottoms.
I don’t believe having those categories would cause “confusion” for either creators nor players, as I think most people know what handhelds are. I also think that having a set category for handhelds/bodysuits would also be beneficial for preventing further miscategorization on the catalog too, as there wouldn’t be handheld stuff popping up when users are trying to find an actual jumper to wear while looking in the jumper category.
This is absolutely MASSIVE! Oh, wait, no it isn’t. Not anymore.
I’m really not a fan of rewarding creators who break Roblox’s Marketplace Policy by abusing glitches to access these features early. The method they are using to create transparent accessories is done through a glitch in Roblox’s accessory validation.
I am glad to see that you are considering an official method of adding transparency to items, but I am disappointed this wasn’t addressed earlier. This bug was discovered 2 months ago and legitimate creators have been waiting for an official response that whole time.
Thank you for the update on this. I certainly believe it’s crucial to establish clear guidelines and address these issues sooner rather than later- It has been 52 days since this bug was initially reported. Unintended behaviors like these continue to see a lack of official response, and eventually it creates an environment where those abusing these bugs benefit, especially after the 30 day hold, and those attempting to stay within the rules are at a disadvantage- I believe this ultimately jeopardizes the integrity of the marketplace, and I question the point of the lengthy 30 day hold if issues cannot be efficiently commented on, or solved, within that timeframe.
I really want to echo this
The current transparent items are abusing a glitch which clearly put good faith creators who are trying to do the right thing at a competitive disadvantage
While I love the idea that transparency is being looked into deeper to officially support — this has been requested for years in more proper outlets and wasn’t a serious consideration but only now other creators abusing a glitch the feature is finally being explored feels wrong
These items utilizing the glitch have significantly impacted good faith, policy abiding uploads in certain categories and we were left in the dark without a reasonable course of action to compete faithfully
these situations including transparency but also other violating content are negatively impacting good faith creators trying to do the right thing and seeming continuously rewarding bad actors for taking leaps on faith on Roblox’s inaction
tl;dr it just feels the playing field isn’t fair to well intentioned creators
Can you guys please just work on moderation for now? These updates won’t help if you randomly ban developers.
Creator of the linked devfourm bug report here! I just wanted you to look over my original report and give me some more details on what’s possible with this and what might be some issues with it. I’m very interested in what will happen next and I think allowing creators to upload transparent UGC is a great idea if you work on those validation checks for all those different types of UGC items. Also, one thing I wanted to state is that your Devfourm Team could work on replying to the report in a reasonable time. There’s been many reports that have been ignored and specifically mine has been unseen by staff for around 50+ days. Other than one little message saying they were looking into it or something. (They say that on many other reports.) Thanks for the reply here though, curious on what is going to happen next!
I agree, it’s quite disappointing to see creators who mass abuse a glitch to be rewarded so easily. I wish this energy was directed towards us bundle creators when it comes to applying makeup, tattoos, and modesty layer onto our bundles. I’ve been receiving bans for makeup/tattoos for almost two years now and it still remains that way. Unfortunately, I doubt anything will change since most people on this platform wouldn’t dare to touch Dynamic Heads.
Transparent accessory official support is gonna be sick! If this is done through the SurfaceAppearence way, it would be amazing!
Transparency done through PBR/SurfaceAppearence looks & works a lot better than old transparency, so I’m very excited about this!
Example of what I mean:
I have a question though, related to transparency, will this show up in r6 as well? Or just r15? Currently only r15 supports PBR/SurfaceAppearence
Saying UGC Moderation wouldnt there just be lots of clones of roblox transparent items
once there is transparent items no one kinda cares.
Ice crown rippoffs will be everywhere with the state of ugc moderation
how about r6 small blocky accessorys?
So, is the blocky body cage (BlockyCharacter) from the documentation resources page that will be used as the new default in the next few weeks? If so, creators can start editing their work right away until it’s time to update the cage. It will be a very tedious process for creators to go through every single one of them I’m sure.
As of right now, the current version of the default blocky body cage isn’t the same cage from the resource file, and using the cage from it causes weird deformation and artifacts; many creators still use the cage provided by @MidnightKrystal, which works perfectly fine from studio to in-experience, as they’re nearly identical to the current version of the blocky cage.
@SpookyMeril I’m really sorry my original reply made you misunderstand the main point … when I mentioned “handhelds and body suits are two categories that have high demand with no corresponding categories” I meant these are examples of assets that do need categories.
As for the other comment “we can’t have too many categories and introduce confusion to creators and users looking for items in the catalog” I meant we want to add enough categories to capture demand without creating situations where items can be mapped to more than one category.
So yes, your comment is aligned with the initial main point Thank you for sharing and helping me clarify!
What if users do not update their layered clothing items? If they can’t update their items will they be taken down? This seems to contradict the idea that older items will not be taken down for not fitting the new validation.
Generally I am pro-this-change, but I am always concerned about overreach. Would like more details on how updating old items will work before I say this is a positive post, though I’m leaning towards this being a good thing.
If a handheld category ever becomes a thing, I suggest using the LeftGrip and RightGrip attachments that characters have to make these items work. This way, handhelds can work in both R6 and R15.
Actually, years ago, Roblox used to create handheld accessories using these attachments, but they stopped doing so in 2020. For reference, here’s the The Pain Bringer utilizing the LeftGrip attachment.
Part of me feels like they shouldn’t be rewarded for breaking the system but the other part is majorly impressed they broke the system in this way. It’s not even like a hindrance to other users either.
In my opinion, people who have found a bug should be competent of using it in order to be awarded, and to get awarded they must post a bug report in dev forum.
I mean they shouldn’t share the bug with everyone and create game breaking items such as this one that covers everything in shadow
Yes, its an uploadable item and im not using it to break the game. To prove it is working for UGC, i can show you an screenshot that it is approved for uploading
Item is not uploaded yet, but even if it is uploaded ill just make it have as less impact as possible.
When will we be able to rename our bundle/dynamic head names?
Hello,
My UGC item was recently removed with the reason “Spam (Miscategorization).” However, this item was approved over a year ago and had 22k+ favorites before being taken down.
According to your statement regarding cage validation checks, you mentioned:
“The new cage validation checks will be enforced on new catalog uploads of layered avatar assets. We will not retroactively take down existing assets in the catalog that no longer pass these validations.”
Since my item was already approved and live for over a year, I would like to understand why it was removed now and how I can fix and get my items back on sale for community.
Key Details:
The item was originally published as a Jacket (Layered Clothing).
Similar items are still published in the catalog without issues.
I appreciate your time and look forward to your response.
