New YouTube URL handle format is invalid in YouTube link fields

This occurs in any field which accepts specifically YouTube links like social links for games and user profiles.

  1. Navigate to a page that accepts YouTube social links i.e. https://www.roblox.com/my/account#!/info#social-networks
  2. Try putting in a YouTube URL that has converted to YouTube’s new handle system i.e. https://www.youtube.com/@mothmage
  3. Click Save
  4. You’ll receive an error telling you that “The YouTube url is invalid”

Only verified YouTube channels properly redirect when using the old link format like Roblox - YouTube, meaning that most smaller channels cannot properly use this feature without the workaround mentioned below.

Workaround

  1. Navigate to https://studio.youtube.com
  2. Go to “Customization” on the side panel
  3. Click the “Basic info” tab
  4. Scroll down until you see Channel URL
  5. Copy and use that link instead.

Expected behavior

I expect to be able to use a handle in the link, as it’s the most accessible and common way to link a channel.

Page URL: https://www.roblox.com/my/account#!/info#social-networks

We’ve filed a ticket for this issue and will start investigating!

Thanks for flagging!

Is there any news on this? I’m not even able to use the workaround anymore. I’ve tried to use the handle and the Channel Url.

This should be fixed, no workarounds can bypass it erroring out.

The same thing does not happen only in the profile. Also when you add youtube link to the experience it gives an error but everything is correct. For example, things like Facebook, Discord are fine. Just Youtube, Why?

This is also an issue for linking youtube pages to games. When trying this I get the error “The social link url was improperly formatted.” and I’m assuming its the same thing. Its been over a month now!

I’m not sure whether this is anything related, but I’ve been using a legacy /c/ URL on my channel, and for some reason, Roblox is now saying the URL is invalid every time I try to change social links.

It only started happening recently, probably within the last week (as I recently had to remove @logout as my X handle after realising there’s an actual account there lol and there was no issue removing that).

btw this post is a duplicate of one @darkpixlz made last year: Attempt to use a YT handle for your channel URL results in a error

@GamersInternational You are right in what you said. The old Youtube URLs still work. But when you try to make a new one, it gives an Error. For example, I couldn’t save my Guilded.gg address while editing it yesterday. It said youtube URL is wrong. I think this issue needs to be resolved urgently.

Can confirm I’m experiencing this as well. It’s shocking how long this is being investigated, considering it prevents you from updating all social networks.

I am also unable to add my youtube link to my new games even when using the same link that worked for my old games

To those stating that YouTube links in general are being blocked, please support this other topic instead. This topic specifically refers to YouTube handle links and not links in general.

I’m amazed that this hasn’t gotten fixed yet. It would quite literally take 30-45 seconds to fix this issue by simply updating the accepted links list once somebody at roblox eventually looks into it.

If anyone from Roblox would like to hire me for 60 seconds I will fix this for you.

This issue still persists. I am currently experiencing this issue.

URLs such as the following:

Variant 2
Variant 3
Variant 4

Do not work momentarily.
