“Paste Into At Original Location” got moved into a submenu
the tab itself doesn’t seem to remember the order i put it in
(i usually have the tabs set up like this, but whenever i open Studio it opens with Explorer on the right side instead):
apart from those three things i can get used to this, it’s a nice replacement so far and i haven’t felt any massive urge to revert
100% I really wish they reverted this. Pasting at original locations needed 99% of the time you paste something and adding that extra step seems so unnecessary
They’ve done the same thing with the ‘Insert Object’ button, which is in a sub-menu too now.
The new explorer is lovely and it makes life a lot easier I just wish they reverted these two things.
using the scrolling frame to scroll all the way up does actually not scroll to the top-most instance
right click acts as a click when being in select mode (like of ObjectValue) - cannot turn my camera around and move closer to the desired part to select it when select mode is active
the Explorer window does not remember it’s place or maybe takes too long to load - I have Explorer and Properties in the same “place” and even though I always put Explorer first in the tabs, it always ends up being second upon opening a place
already said it but clicking anywhere else outside of game ViewPort cancells ObjectValue or Parent selection (I remember I could switch between Explorer and Properties just fine before) - not good when you need to select a Model/Folder (can’t really use the ViewPort for that)
saw already reported for plugins but the UI selection is broken everywhere (I experienced the missing selection for SurfaceGuis)
one cannot see others’ selection if in team create
the ability to rename more instances at once using F2
Otherwise I like the fact that the dropdown menu has collapsed features, no idea why everyone is so mad about it - it looks much better when there is less stuff at once. Could someone maybe explain what is driving you guys so crazy? If you use something a lot, set a shortcut for it (I know they are broken rn but the fix is on it’s way).
Please make it so that when I’m dragging something in the explorer it doesn’t automatically open every single Model, Folder, etc… it’s extremely inconvinient and makes something that should be simple become super tedious.
This needs to at least be optional.
The “Show in Explorer” no longer works when right clicking a scripts from the top bar. Unless all tabs to the script is already open, but it no longer automatically opens everything, or shows up at all.
Inserting anything inside a instance doesn’t open the instance.
Suggestions
Allow us to change the color & transparency of selecting something in explorer
Allow us to change to font size of explorer, this update has made it smaller at least on my 2K monitors. When switching to a 1920x1080 monitor it shows the size I had on the 2K before this explorer what was more read-able. (Now A lot of text is floating for me and I’m having a hard time finding things)
This has and still is happening rarely in the old explorer, I don’t get how they managed to introduce the same bugs for a near-completly rewritten (no idea if that is actually true, lmk) explorer.
Jokes aside, it takes 3 seconds to rename by double click method when in the old explorer you could in a second, which is a massive downgrade.
Also, i suggest instead of making sub menu open in different tab, it collapses in the same scrolling frame and doesn’t close (saves the state you can say) if you close content menu or leave the studio. That would fix a lot of pain
How it (the new gen explorer) works right now is that hovering over ANY part of a Folder/object (with children) will open it.
I’m saying I DON’T want that behavior and am asking specifically for a toggle to turn in on/off. I’ve edited my post to clarify. I’m unsure what you mean by “it should be.”
For some reason the button that toggles ‘enabled’ on a script in the context menu says TBD
Also I had an issue where the blue outline when dragging an object kept updating even after letting go of my mouse and moving my mouse outside the window
Sorry for the inconvenience, i used your message as a build up, not entirely replacing your idea or changing.
Well, toggle to turn off/on this thing is a good idea if you want to disable it entirely and it would be added for sure, but i believe it has its own pros which is why i suggested it would work better when hovering on the arrow/expand button rather than the entire button/instance with children (wording is weird).
I just had a terrifying moment with the new explorer. I accidentally deleted my model and the undo didn’t track the fact I deleted the model but remembered changes to other parts and I could undo that. I had to go to an early version of game to get model back. Thankfully I save a lot.
I might have gotten the model back but the undo not working correctly is a major inconvenience.
