Next Gen Explorer now available for everyone!

Please make it so that when I’m dragging something in the explorer it doesn’t automatically open every single Model, Folder, etc… it’s extremely inconvinient and makes something that should be simple become super tedious.
This needs to at least be optional.

and now I have no idea how to insert new instances into parts, thanks roblox

Bugs I found:

Suggestions

  • Allow us to change the color & transparency of selecting something in explorer
  • Allow us to change to font size of explorer, this update has made it smaller at least on my 2K monitors. When switching to a 1920x1080 monitor it shows the size I had on the 2K before this explorer what was more read-able. (Now A lot of text is floating for me and I’m having a hard time finding things)

@beastoftheeast0 can we have a toggle to turn off the auto opening when hovering over a dropdown?

This is killing my productivity by making me close a bunch of stuff I don’t want open in the hierarchy. It’s also just really annoying.

It’s somewhat there?
But it’s super slow for some unknown reason!

I can concur that double click to rename is supremely slow for 0 reason

The new explorer can handle 1 gatrillion instances like a champ but will kill you the moment you dare to scroll :pen:

This has and still is happening rarely in the old explorer, I don’t get how they managed to introduce the same bugs for a near-completly rewritten (no idea if that is actually true, lmk) explorer.

It’s called stealing borrowing code!

Jokes aside, it takes 3 seconds to rename by double click method when in the old explorer you could in a second, which is a massive downgrade.

Also, i suggest instead of making sub menu open in different tab, it collapses in the same scrolling frame and doesn’t close (saves the state you can say) if you close content menu or leave the studio. That would fix a lot of pain

Actually, i feel like it should be: you have to hover on the arrow button to expand/open automatically.

Trying to switch to the new Explorer UI tab while selecting an object cancels the selection

How it (the new gen explorer) works right now is that hovering over ANY part of a Folder/object (with children) will open it.

I’m saying I DON’T want that behavior and am asking specifically for a toggle to turn in on/off. I’ve edited my post to clarify. I’m unsure what you mean by “it should be.”

For some reason the button that toggles ‘enabled’ on a script in the context menu says TBD

Also I had an issue where the blue outline when dragging an object kept updating even after letting go of my mouse and moving my mouse outside the window

Sorry for the inconvenience, i used your message as a build up, not entirely replacing your idea or changing.

Well, toggle to turn off/on this thing is a good idea if you want to disable it entirely and it would be added for sure, but i believe it has its own pros which is why i suggested it would work better when hovering on the arrow/expand button rather than the entire button/instance with children (wording is weird).

I just had a terrifying moment with the new explorer. I accidentally deleted my model and the undo didn’t track the fact I deleted the model but remembered changes to other parts and I could undo that. I had to go to an early version of game to get model back. Thankfully I save a lot.

I might have gotten the model back but the undo not working correctly is a major inconvenience.

Is anyone else experiencing frequent crashes from this update? They all happen while I’m playtesting in studio and hit the play or stop button. This has happened 2 or 3 times to me just today and it’s frustrating. They still happen even after I disable the updated UI.

If it helps, my computer is somewhat lower-end. I don’t have a good comparison that isnt game-specific, but I run the first area of Eternal Towers of Hell on roughly 50 FPS on quality 1 for reference.

You guys, the original explorer was neat and easy to use, but recently you changed the drag and drop effect to be very difficult to use, and now fix it on the new one.

Hi, have you tried disabling plugins? Maybe the new update broke one of them

It appears to me that you double click the instance then move your cursor off the instance in order to start renaming. I think this is to make it less in the way, which I think is a good thing.
That’s what I think looking from the video, but also the last time you double clicked it just went straight to renaming, so maybe it is slow.

Yea this is happening to me too, even if i disabled the new gen explorer. I dont really know why it crashes when i playtest, but i always lose half of the progress beacuse auto-recovery files dont create for some reason.

Do not feel nervous–this is useful

We know about some bugginess with box select–it’s one of my priorities today to fix.
