the icons on buttons like Part, Lock have too much padding taking up too much horizontal space
elements are way too wide, look at “Object Browser” or “Download a Copy”, taking up too much horizontal space. The text should be wrapped and the padding can be reduced on icons so the wrapped text can fit.
for the grid stud alignment controls, i can’t find them in the menu, instead I had to duplicate the home tab
Also there could be an option to move the tabs up to the very top of the screen like it was before to save space, i dont mind, but what I do mind is the new bar taking up more space, and somehow having less elements fit on the screen than the old one.
apologise if I restated something because I did not read 400 replies, until said issues are fixed I will not be using this new UI, thank you
Despite me having this beta featured disabled it was enabled for me overnight so I decided to give it a shot. Immediately, I encountered an issue.
I like to hide/undock the ribbon when I work because I want the most amount of screen space for the viewport. Unfortunately, there is this awkward behavior with the new UI where the ribbon will show if you move your mouse above the viewport. It feels awkward because there is a noticeable delay. It would be great if there could be an option for this. With the option, I should be able to switch from this current behavior to showing the ribbon when I click on one of the ribbon menus. As seen in the image, there is also depth problems. For context, I have my ribbon undocked (collapsible) and I moved my mouse to select the test mode dropdown. Since there is a slight delay with automatically showing the ribbon I am able to easily select the test mode dropdown before the ribbon shows causing the issue in the image. However, if I select the dropdown after the ribbon is visible then the depth ordering is fine.
TLDR:
Add option to only show undocked ribbon when clicking a tab button.
The ribbon automatically showing has a noticeable delay; clicking the test mode dropdown before it becomes visible causes it to render underneath the ribbon. (This is probably an issue for other similar things)
Here’s another quick issue, tooltips are not aware if they will be shown off-screen. I am hovering the notifications icon here. I have two monitors and studio is on my left monitor. Half of the tooltip is showing on my right monitor. Ideally, the tooltip should expand the other way.
I feel like I am going to explode. They have repeatedly said that won’t be possible, because the new UI isn’t a reskin, it’s a remake from the ground up.
I don’t see much of a difference between the two. And 20% is a bit of an exaggeration. If you were really worried about screen size your would have been our layout stacked more instead of having a small little viewport.
If I had to choose between the New studio UI and the Old one, I would rather use the Old Studio UI because the New One is extremely bulky and weird, and it’s hard to get used to.
To the Roblox Developers working on this update: Please make this optional. I know it may make you think the update you’ve created is worthless, but please, just keep the old UI as well with the New UI. Even if more people use the Old UI Rather then the new beta UI, then just keep them both. It may lead to more people not using this new UI, But some may like it, Allowing Developers to add new tabs to the top-bar is a decent idea, but making everything bulky and hard to navigate just makes it look worse; and may deter new inspiring developers from starting.
I know you may fix this “New UI” overtime, but in a way, it just doesn’t feel right to me. It’s my decision to use the old UI, because it better suits me. Either way, I rather this New UI Update to be optional rather than remove the old UI Design. Listen to us.
Now, I’m not trying to enforce my ideals onto you guys, but I’d rather sit in a confined prison sell blasting brain-rot cringe music for 7 hours until I go insane, than having the old Roblox Studio UI Be removed and replaced with this “New UI” which just looks off and too bulky and utter babyish. The New UI just looks more like scratch JR than a professional game engine software.
i mean its cool and all with creating custom tabs and so-
but i don’t like that the buttons are either too large or really spaced out.
it feels like that it tries to be full but fails at it- idk how to word it
there is something off about it.
please there should be a way to atleast change the button size and spacing🤑
Summed up my thoughts perfectly the sheer ignorance is actually kind of astounding lol. Complaints like ‘was this even tested with developers’ as if that’s not literally the point of the beta feature Especially annoying considering this is maybe the most active I’ve seen staff responses be to feedback and people are taking that for granted.
Also the ‘if it aint broke dont fix it’ argument. Sure it worked fine for us but to change the UI framework implies the backend was absolute spaghetti and probably did need the rewrite sooner rather than later. Not that people seem to actually be reading the announcements before complaining considering they’ll still ask for a toggle they cannot have due to the shift away from qt.
Look I get that adjusting to the rearrangements is annoying but surely given the ultimate goal of the custom tabs etc seems to be that you’ll be able to just… move it all back, that takes the sting off of it?
If this was the mindset they had literally nothing would ever change or improve. Ever. That would be just as bad if not worse.
you won’t really be able to get a 1:1 copy, but they are working more on compacting the UI and it’s customizations. I’m not sure if they’re gonna keep the Light theme/dark theme or if they’ll have preset themes and allow us to create our own theme sets.
Right now I will admit it has flaws no doubt but they are working on fixing them. This new UI has been in beta for over a year and I only just recently toggled it on little over a month ago and I’ve been able to do mostly everything I needed to. While yes they do have custom tabs now I do also believe some of the things they removed should be put back into the main tabs just cause new users won’t be familiar with the custom tabs stuff unless if they make it apart of the studio setup. Which is probably something they should do make a soft tutorial when they do fully release this.
You gotta get used to change, because change will happen. Whether it’s better or worse (better in this case), nothing’s gonna stay the same forever. Refusing to accept change for the sake of “change = bad” is just gonna make your life worse.
so… we have to manually recreate the old toolbar ourselves… and your planning on compacting it EVEN MORE??? it already feels too over simplified in that now i have to go through submenus
in addition to this i really dont think a separate UI and avatar tab are necessary
this is not ready at all and if its planned to go out of beta in june then you need an option to disable this, its not about getting used to it because you simply cant do a lot of things anymore
i get what they’re trying to do under the hood, but please add a setting for those that enjoy a more compact layout with everything they need at their finger tips. i shouldn’t need to go through select menus to access what i want
custom tabs don’t solve this for me because the buttons just simply take up too much space, plus- we don’t have quick access anymore
