Instead of using the native Windows title bar, you could integrate the File, Edit, View, … buttons inside the window itself, like the Discord app. I assume you have been working on this but not sure
And why does the text look blurry? It doesn’t look sharp idk
Yeah, I’d really like an answer on the menu bar on Windows. I worry most of the developers of this are using Mac where it looks fine but it sucks on Windows. I can’t even hide it and open it using Alt key from what I can tell.
I kind of see this studio change highly pointless as with how many features there are to customize with, this thing will likely never be set up to each Developer. Honestly this Beta feels highly unsupportive to old studio and kind of forced towards the Developers.
In my personal view of the new changes towards the studio, I feel like the studio became annoyingly round on each specific location. I’d like to address the question, are we with this in mind focusing on making Studio completely round or we ever getting an option to keep buttons sharp. It highly feels annoying to my eyes having both.
In terms of the old View Tab, please make it an option to bring it back. I feel like this could have been implemented better by making a Local Setting to disable visibility of main Tabs that you can’t remove regardless in the first place. View was like one of the most often used Tabs for developers to quickly press a memorized button icon and open the screen you absolutely need. Now you have to go and read each time on what you want to open and making a custom Tab of the old View Tab certainly is impossible as you cannot collapse it like the previous one had.
Also, this certainly will force upon new Developers to complain about where to open back the Explorer and Properties (Which leads to DevForum questions being flooded over something small like that).
Give back the 3D Import option in the “Avatar” Tab as it is originally meant to be for the purpose of quickly importing meshes to convert to UGC and alike.
Additionally, is Snap to Part enabled to players by default and can’t be disabled or is it removed completely off of Studio?
Also, please make it that whenever you’re not focused on Studio, it does not minimize the “Add Tools” window.
This was a simple yet very well fit Studio Tab design and had no flaws. Why can’t we stick onto this one? It had everything inside it and now instead of that, we have a studio button to show a vague list with little to what the View Tab had.
I really want to like the new UI, because it does look pretty alright and usability seems better. But unfortunately, it still has the same problems as the Next Gen Explorer UI. The UI elements appear blurry on high resolution displays.
There are also some performance issues compared to the old UI like when hovering rapidly over the UI buttons, but it’s pretty minor and I probably wouldn’t have noticed it without a framerate counter. (Unlike the performance of the Next Gen Explorer…)
I would really like to see the blurriness fixed before this goes live, because at the current moment it is significant enough that I’m not wanting to move to it.
Ah yes another update another icon change, now i gotta get used to the new ones once again lol
Overall seems pretty good tho just hope you fix metnioned issues before releasing this
I also agree that the view tab should be brought back, it is genuinely insane to me that it is not part of the new UI. So many programs I find difficult to use because they simply don’t have easy ways to open and close and I have to try so many search filters in the settings just to find what I want.
the view tab should be brought back… 50 million buttons in the context menu is not user-friendly (or however else you access these now)
While neither are great (the fake 3d colour-shifting on the left and right of the old text is very nauseating) the old one is quite clearly more readable, while the new one is extremely faded out.
The sub-pixel scaling needs to be fixed asap, as that’s an insane neglect of accessibility that even normal users are going to have trouble.
Please, I don’t want this new UI (in its current state), it’s much larger overall and lot of things got put into menus which ruin my muscle memory and efficiency at which I can get to the tools I need. I also fear that it might be noticeably slower than the original. Take terrain editor for example, since it got reworked, every time I use it, it drops my FPS to 70 from 144+, I reported the issue but it was never addressed (I forgot to reply and it got closed with no way of reopening it).
I would really appreciate if staff could delay the release so that these issues can be addressed first.
I don’t know if the new explorer is Lua as well, but if it is I 100% see where you’re coming from, sometimes it’s super slow and just downright buggy to the point I have to save and restart Studio…
The bug I have is that sometimes if I click drop downs too quickly they will like glitch out and I won’t be able to select anything.
Everything on the screen takes up more space now. Now we have to use our time to adapt to another update. Why is there such less thought for the people nowadays?
Sure, new architecture or whatever, but if the old one works for us, can there not be any effort into making the new UI or a theme for it to be like the old one?
Sure, we can all adapt if we want to, but why? So far, I don’t think it’s worth it for us right now. Since I don’t know what’s coming, I can’t say new architecture has enough benefits to justify a need to change.
Would I prefer to use this new UI? No chance
Will I be forced to and will definitely use it? Yes
The new UI is better than it used to be, for sure. But, just like replacing the legacy chat, it’s not good enough for some, yet it will most likely be forced upon us before it can turn good enough.
Then why don’t you list your problems with the new UI in this post and hopefully they will be addressed before it fully goes into effect instead of complaining about something that is gonna happen anyway?
Good work but please take your time with this beta! I like the direction of customization. Next Gen studio is something everyone is going to use so it must be really good. All developers must interact with this to do anything so it is very important to get right. The studio UI must be really good and glitch free to be considered done.
Even when the UI is basically done I recommend making another announcement and keep making announcements until most valid criticism and glitches are taken care of. Only then release.
The name of the announcement gave me the impression it will release too soon.
