@MeshOfPaul been using the new explorer UI and I’ve had a couple issues with it so far, the scrolling step seems to be too great when it’s squished, tends to skip an item or two depending on how squished it is.
F2 doesn’t seem to work so far? That’s how I used to rename things so it’s kinda confusing UX on how it doesn’t have any functionality right now. (Edit: None of the keybinds work apparently.)
The suggested filters I think should be placed into a filter button on the right side of the search bar, I can’t see anything whenever I click there.
The scroll wheel is barely visible on light mode, I can’t see it at all.
Edit 2: this isn’t explorer ui related but next gen ui issue:
idk what causes this i think its a style issue? not sure but i cant read anything
The Next Gen Explorer Beta is another team (but I wouldn’t expect anyone to know that!) so I can’t comment directly to known issues. But I am happy to pass this along to them. I suspect a DevForum post is coming soon.
The other thing you’re sharing is very strange! I assume you are on Windows? This is where the menus would normally be. Are you not seeing them at all? Is it 100% reproducible for you?
Yeah the new Explorer is extremely quick… it actually gets better with larger places. Up to 80x faster! This is a peer team of ours but they are utilizing all of the Next Gen Studio architecture stuff. I’ll pass along your feedback.
Yea I’m on windows, that gray thing covers the menus and it happens pretty frequently but I don’t know specifically when or what causes it. I usually notice when trying to open another window.
Hello, this actually is unrelated to the Next Gen UI, since it occurs even on the current ribbon. It’s very strange and the cause hasn’t been found yet
We are moving to our own color picker UI to be in more control of it’s look and capabilities. If there’s something you like about the existing/old pickers, let us know!
I wish the explorer’s UI was thinner to let more things be on screen at once. The padding looks nice, but the explorer is the place where it’s needed the least. The performance on large places sadly seems to be the same at first, though improving after a while. The selection lag seems to not happen anymore when you select without moving the camera, though I’m unsure if it’s related.
I’m kinda mixed with this update because on one hand the UI looks really good but it’s going to take some time to learn when I wanna focus on making a game instead. I hope there’s an option to switch between UIs and update both of them.
