Will this be in a game, or live on Twitch/YouTube like previous years.
In terms of being in game, I wasn’t able to join the bloxys to watch, my internet speeds are not the best for large player count games. I can however watch live YouTube videos etc no problem. I know it’s still too early but thought I’d ask.
Good to know but I have one question will people who where not invited be-able to show there games? It would be nice to see smaller developers in the Roblox community and opening the annual event of RDC to smaller and larger developers would be nice to see.
Good thing Roblox is taking initiative into stopping this pandemic, although it’s sad as I was very excited for this year’s RDC as I am getting into development a lot, I do agree safety comes first as without it we wouldn’t be here!
Completely understand this, I know COVID-19 Has been an huge problem with social distancing and no larger groups then 10 people. Great choice! Stay safe everyone!
Stay safe out there! Also excited to see all the new upcoming features and fixes that are going to be announced!
I hope they explain on how the digital rdc is going to work out soon
They could re open invitations again for devforum members for the digital game but it won’t probably be ingame, they will probably do another youtube livestream.
This is the right decision from ROBLOX. That being said, is the game jam still going on? If so, is it limited to invite only, devforum only, or for the general public? If I can attend from home that’d be AWESOME.
Although this is sad, I have a question regarding RDC 2021:
Since the WHO (World Health Orginisation) has stated that it will possibly take ~18 months to develop a vaccine against COVID-19, will RDC 2021 be turned into a digital event as well, or is it too hard to tell if it’s going to happen physically or online?
I know that this question will be very hard to answer, but I would like to get some form of response.
I doubt that it would be an invite-only system. The main reason RDC was invite-only was 1.) because it’s hard to keep track of say 10,000 developers. 2.) There’s a limit on how many people can even be in the venue in real life which is why they need to limit attendance.
I feel considering it’s an online-based developer conference that they would just allow everyone to “attend” as there’s no need to worry about limiting attendance that would usually be mandated by law.
Another thing I would like to add is a quote on the RDC discord by @younite I don’t know if this is true but it was in the announcements after this exact post was announced to everyone on the server.
I’ve removed the attendee role considering everyone can attend rdc now :,) if you have already joined the rdc group and got ranked up your rank will be kept, i wont be ranking anyone down
Now could it be invite-only? Certainly, I’m not saying it wouldn’t be but I feel like in the best judgement of the RDC event they should take advantage of what’s happening. Allowing every developer to feel included in an online conference would be a great idea.
