Opening up Marketplace to More Creators

I have 0 clue why you killed community events with this change. I am currently developing my own community event and was estastic when they announced public ugc so I can upload items myself, but in return they made the price per stock ridiculous. Also Public UGC has led to adult content being uploaded onto the marketplace. Please atleast revert the stock change. Thank You.

The price floor for hats was 60 yesterday, it’s 70 today.
Why was it changed?

Yes. As long as it gets approved.

I’m sure this will go stellar, and it won’t result in a ban on all UGC following a series of Califiornia based law suits.

Many people are still complaining about public UGC being released over the fear of even more knock-off copies of limited accessories and copyrighted accessories being made, but in my opinion I believe this won’t be as prominent.

Sure, there will still be knock-off items on the marketplace with public UGC, that’s only to be expected. However, users that upload these items and get moderated for it (assuming more effort will be placed towards moderating the marketplace) will no longer be able to upload for a specific time period, or more likely, at all! This is due to the need of having an ID-verified account to even upload items in the first place (as well as a financial cost through the purchase of premium) and if these users get moderated then chances are, their ID associated with their account will get blacklisted from uploading. I doubt someone would have more than one ID that they are willing to verify an account with just for the purpose of uploading a knock-off item.

Of course, I could be completely incorrect about this all, but if Roblox is willing to release public UGC then I’m certain that they have systems in place to repulse users from uploading knock-off items in the first place and repulse users from uploading knock-off items after being moderated, all due to needing an ID-verified account.

you have to be exceptionally uneducated if you think Roblox does anything about ugc moderation

This is just a disaster, absolute disaster. Roblox already had struggled with moderating UGC before, but what about now? More creators = more items. The amount of fake limiteds and inappropriate accessories is just bizarre, I believe that Roblox gave up at some point and started to approve any item just to get that sweet 70% cut from a sale. Why wouldn’t they improve the moderation first and then announce that public UGC is out?
The 100R$ fee per 1 copy on free limiteds is insane. Making 5,000 quantity free limited was around 50,000-150,000R$, but its 500,000R$ now, this is just crazy. Pure greed.

I don’t think Roblox is going to fix the quality problem.

If you look at the other corners of Roblox that allow users to create content, like experiences, classic clothing, developer assets, etc—they all have one thing in common: bad quality and mass copies are barely moderated.

The real question is wouldn’t Roblox save tons of money on database costs if they fixed this? Like limiting how much you can upload in a day, allowing creators to fully delete their assets, and more user-oriented moderation.

If you look up “Deleted UGC Limiteds” there is a webpage with 11 pages of deleted limiteds that broke the rules of roblox. That is only including limiteds and not just normal for-sale UGC items. Roblox is doing a great job at moderating

If you don’t know this, then you should probably grab a 3d modelling program and sit tight for the next couple hours because you’re gonna be learning a lot.

You’ll need to import your 3d model into roblox studio, then use the accessory fitting tool in the Avatar tab to fit your accessory onto an avatar, and make sure to use a legacy accessory because right now meshpart accessories won’t detect the handle meshpart for some people. Finally, right click the generated accessory and click save to roblox, add in required info and pay the 750 robux to upload it.

If you want to publish it, you’ll need to buy Premium 1000 for $10

I think this update is good and bad, but for developers especially, I think we got screwed.

I always thought of open UGC being a benefit to developers, as you would be able to create free limited UGCs as a incentive for players to spend time in your game, and players gained a item that could be turned into money.

However, with a per-unit fee of 100 Robux, it’s almost impossible for most developers to create limited UGC events with good amounts of stock. For example, let’s say my game has 1K DAU, and I create a limited UGC event and 10% of players complete the event. To make enough copies to run this hypothetical event for just one day, would cost 10K Robux.

The fee needs to be lowered back down to 20-30 Robux per unit. Hell, even 50 Robux per unit is better, but currently developers cannot use public UGC to its full extent.

This update is terrible! Roblox is a greedy dirtbag! Just because my family isnt wealthy doesnt mean I shouldnt be allowed to share my creations and express myself!

I can pay any kind of requirement in robux but asking for premium is real usd, something some people dont have.

Roblox, you need to find ways to make this work, it’s possible a suit could happen with all these creators bypassing to make sexual content. I have already seen a pair of boobs, and dinosaur with a male appendage on it’s head. Now the catalog is exposing minors to sexual content. It needs to be put under control or hold these bad actors with verified IDs legally accountable for sexual material. These people are verifying on alternate accounts and running groups with alts to bypass and add sexual content to the marketplace.

No, Joker is very much not public domain.
