it’s good that that dsa can delete 1:1’s but recent catalog is still being flooded with copyright and regular item ripoffs, some got banned but the majority of stuff I saw get posted since morning has persisted and creators who posted those have others up that have lasted months. literally all it could take for a court case to get made and the entire UGC market to potentially crumple is a screenshot forwarded to a big company that doesn’t like the use of their assets.
if the moderation can’t catch the copyright before it actually gets publicized then the whole catalog is at risk, which is why I mentioned they should’ve redone their system before giving this many people the ability to sell models.
I do not understand why people want this reverted.
First and foremost, even when UGC was pretty difficult to get into, you still had all the grifters uploading crappy Limited clones like crazy, and ROBLOX did not do much to prevent that. Yeah sure maybe more will happen now, which stinks, but this isn’t new and it likely won’t get any worse than it has been for a long time now.
Second, I know plenty of 3D modelers who got finessed with the old UGC system. Because they weren’t able to upload UGC on their own, they would have to have some big group to do it for the, they would get a pretty measly % of the profit, and these giant groups would just get richer off of those 3D modelers.
For those saying we should go to a strict system that requires you to show you can 3D model: that was what originally was happening here, and you still had people who would upload crap. And do you really think ROBLOX is going to do a good job of getting back to everyone in a timely fashion? They only delete a dozen or so fake limiteds a month, and it takes them months to get back to applicants.
I remember a time when they opened uploading 3D models and sounds back up, after having it shut off for the better part of a decade. Everyone back then was screaming how the sky was falling, and yeah, there were hiccups, especially with the audio uploading stuff, but it ended up being a net positive. It increased the quality of games (you would not have all these nice combat games, especially the ones with guns, if people still had to model guns in Studio), and it opened a huge huge huge income potential for tons of aspiring developers. I expect the same will happen with this.
I can attest that this will open up a ton of potential for my development studio(s) and the developers I work with in there. In my opinion, this is the right decision on ROBLOX’s part.
This is the worst possible updates for small game creators like me. It originally costs 20K robux for a UGC limited with 2K stock as a face accessory; now its 200K robux. I cannot afford this please. Revert the cost, I can’t afford to keep my users.
finally someone with actual sense, the minority 3d modelers like us who will always get ignored for UGC applications will never be able to upload our own work.
Nobody can afford making ugc events now cause the stock value is very pricey… The only UGCs rn are low quality, ip infringing or sus ugcs… Bigger game studios, Brands or even well known UGC creators are likly no longer gonna upload ugcs as theyll have a huge loss of profit… Like 96% of items uploaded have less then 1000 stock (<100,000 Robux). Highest stock ive seen post update is 65,000 stock (6.5M robux)
I was thinking of id verifying considering I have been using Blender for a while now, its just I cant afford it. Its like 2.7k robux to upload but if I were to make a ugc event in my game I would prob only be able to make as high as 20 stock (2k robux) and then you gotta consider demand and the fact you only get 10% per resale you likely wouldn’t be able to profit for years.
Keep in mind this wouldn’t be so bad if they didnt rise the stock price / fees and wait to release until there new mod tools are ready. I think its a good idea as creators can create more and connect more with there users but the state its in rn I just don’t see any benefit for anyone apart from the fact you can make an accesory (if you have the extra robux), Just my thought(from a small creator).
after uploading an item, it costs 1.5k robux to make a public item, and 20k to make a ugc limited?!
on the bad side too, as @Bakonowychlopak123 said, it’ll be full of fake limiteds, since more people, not just verified UGC creators getting tricked into uploading pieces of limiteds, but just anybody who could get an ID and Premium.
I spent 750 robux to try out my first UGC model (hat). It costs 1.5k to publish, eh, not that bad, when I clicked on UGC limited to see if I could give out for certain experiences. 20 thousand robux.
Tell me, who would spend 200 USD on a ROBLOX Limited to be on sale? The price isn’t even dynamic. If you want to give a UGC to like 5 people, 200 USD out the drain. If you were to choose 1 item, 200 USD.
Not worth publishing a UGC Limited hat at all. I’ll just stick with making myself cool private hats till the prices change.
In my development group, we had around 1.7K CCU in our game (less than 100 CCU right now). We needed FREE-UGC-LIMITEDS to keep the game going. Now, it costs more money to keep the game going with ugc stock cost being changed. It started off with costing around $80 USD for an 888 stock item. Now its $310 dollars. WTF!!???!?! ROBLOX needs to stop being greedy F***S and start giving small creators the ability to thrive again. I AM MAKING MORE MONEY SHORTING ROBLOX STOCKS (RBLX) THAN FROM MY GAME!
Honestly, I think Roblox needs to be hit with another lawsuit, one bigger than when the NMPA went after them. This is literally the same exact scenario; letting users upload copyrighted content into its shared library of marketplace assets.
This is what led the NMPA sue them, because Roblox 100% could have stepped in beforehand; they reserve the right to accept or reject anything created and uploaded to their website, it’s in their Terms and Conditions. It’s basic website rules 101! And yet, they don’t follow through with this.
It’s ridiculous and outright laughable at how bad Roblox has become concerning copyright infringement.
Why are repeating UGC theft offenders not being banned or account deleted? I DMCAed 5 items from a user who stole a chunk of my items and all were approved and removed but he was still in-game playing after all the items were removed. His account did not face any moderation action it seems and he was still playing games with no bans or account deletion even though you only need 3 DMCAs to get deleted. He stole all my items and he faces no moderation action what is this?
Despite having 5 items taken down stealing from me they are still active in-games and playing. Where are the bans and or account deletion from having so many items taken down they stole from me?
