Its so funny how they made the worst update ever by removing audios but then without hesitation or warning make UGC public which will (and already has) lead to worse copyright issues than just music. The copyright issues this will lead to will be worse than anything they ever seen before. Can’t wait to see it.

Yeesh… I was hoping to submit an application later this year when I got better at 3D modeling, as people have requested that I make UGC.
Honestly not looking forward to all the spam items, knockoffs, poor quality items, and general bad content that’s gonna come out now.
BUT, one question. Will applications still reopen to create more verified UGC makers / to let in users who do not have premium? I’m still interested in the program, but I don’t exactly wish to purchase premium.

Yes but regardless of if they have the rights to publish it isn’t relevant, what’s relevant is that according to DMCA laws roblox has to assume good faith in all ugc uploaders until proven wrong by dmca requests.

Ive seen the most disgusting racist, vile content being uploaded to the catalog and used in games, even IF the items do get deleted within the next 24 hours, it is still unacceptable for them to be up in the first place. period.
The only time the UGC catalog was fine was when there were strict applications back in 2021.
If roblox wants to insist with a public UGC catalog so much there HAS TO be insanely strict moderation and guidelines, where anything that isnt a shirt, pants, hoodie, etc IS not allowed. Imo i think looking at sims 4 CC would be a good reference for general guidelines.
There is no world that this content is alright and it absolutely needs to fixed.

I think we are all looking forward to this, but most importantly, is this going to result in a bunch of fake items being published/copied ones. There are already a bunch of them out there.

Wish we could have gotten more transparency on this bit. What disqualifies a UGCer from the program? How severely would they have to violate Community Standards before their access is revoked? I know of one UGC uploader who was just banned for a day for being caught exploiting in a game.
What is your threshold, Roblox? If you want to enforce the Marketplace policies and make sure UGC runs smoothly, you need to be more strict with your punishments, and less tolerant of violators being allowed to stay in the program. Otherwise a user can tell another player outright, without any censoring, to kill themselves (something I personally witnessed), not suffer a ban for it, and even stay as a UGC uploader.
You need to get your priorities set in stone.

Uploaded my first UGC item yesterday, and HOLY SMOKES Roblox. How are you going to take over 2k in fees just to upload and sell it, and still take so much away when someone buys it. Sold it for 75 and got back 24. How do you expect anyone to even break even without making it on the front page?
I am more than stoked that it is now open to anyone who meets the requirements, but hopefully they reevaluate their fees and taxes.

yeah i’ve put two items up and man it’s costly! I love having the ability to upload my creations and link them to my profile etc but not only are our upload costs very high but the the items floor levels are putting off potential sales as once ‘cheaper’ items are now more expensive. In all the transition has been smooth but I don’t think Roblox will change the fees or taxes UNLESS they take a financial hit.

Man, your approval system is awful. If you had real people approving UGC items, then how and why did this get past?
And before anyone tries to say anything, Roblox reserves the right to approve or reject uploads at their discretion. This is common for every website out there.

It’s up to the Copyright Owner to take it down; it doesn’t violate any of Roblox’s ToS so they have no reason to take it down

It’s an official Roblox sponsor item, they have every right to reject it from being uploaded to begin with. Yes, only those who own the right to an IP can file a DMCA, but Roblox themselves reserve the right to approve or reject anything uploaded to their website.

It doesn’t violate any of the ToS and if you report it it’ll get removed proactively. Just because they have the right to remove it doesn’t mean they have to and how would they check if the item violates any intellectual property?
