Does it all have to be low poly?

to me it would seem difficult to kinda get a low poly look with the terrain system, but it sounds like a challenge and sounds fun.

To be honest, If a showcase was violating the rules of the contest, the application would probably just get ignored. I don’t think you’re likely to get a ban or a warning but I suppose it depends on how badly you violated the rules… and if they went unnoticed. But even still, I don’t think Roblox would ban you, or warn you. They’d probably just remove your showcase from the listings if it was found to be a cheated showcase as they never actually breached TOS.

Definitely going to start working on this with my friends. Good luck everyone!

Awesome, I hope my holidays won’t destroy this contest for me. :joy:

It’s amusing that a lot of the responses to this post all seem to relate to the restriction of third party modelling programs like Blender or C4D.

It wouldn’t be much of a “challenge” otherwise!

The original post makes it inherently clear that this competition is for ROBLOX, not Blender. It seems apparent that DevRel want to gauge what is possible with the current iteration of Studio and not what can be done elsewhere and imported, therein lies the challenge.

Good luck and have fun to everyone who wants to participate.

This is so Creative event! Thank you roblox for this! Also, can someone help me with example of low-poly since we aren’t allowed to use blender/cinema 4d?

no blender :frowning: I’m gonna fail…

I like the premise, but there really needs to be a more substantial reward (assuming we entertain the notion that “exposure” is any reward at all.)

I’m fine with the no external program rule. Let’s see what people can do with those limitations.

Please do tell some clarifications-

“The Ancient Forest Ravine” will be a creative challenge to build your vision of a mystical, low-poly style ravine. You should use the terrain system to shape your world, water systems and particles to fill it with movement and life…

I fail to understand how are we supposed to use particles and create ambiental water systems if we can’t use sounds nor particles.

Don’t worry @WoodReviewer, wood grain will be 25% of the judging criteria. They just haven’t told us.

Hello, I was wondering if anybody knows if people who have access to beta features can use them cause it would be helpful.

I like using Studio Build Suite because the hotkeys to switch between transform modes is a lot faster to me.
It’s a plugin though.
Are plugins not allowed for building? It says that the game shouldn’t require plugins to FUNCTION but I’m not even sure what that means if the game shouldn’t have any actual gameplay. Is this just talking about coding?

so no decals, no textures, and no meshes. This is definitely going to be a challenge…

I’m sure someone else has asked this but there are a lot of comments on this post.
Are we allowed to use Roblox Studio Plugins?
Are we allowed to require modules for fancy tweening stuff?

Blender is strong and free, so the playing field was already pretty level imo

How many lines of code am I supposed to build?

Does this mean we can’t use plugins?

When you guys say no assets from the toolbox, does that include sound effects as well?

Is this solely restricted to builders? If not will there be an opportunity for other Roblox developers to show off their skill?
