Why do I get the feeling that Roblox is trying to become more like Discord.
Hey @V_ersalty ! This is valuable feedback and we’ll be releasing developer APIs in the near future
Guilded exists for that, this just makes it easier to join the same servers, so I ASSUME (clarification would be nice please staff!!!) if you have a party of 4, in a 4 player max server, it’ll create a new server and send invitations to everyone in the party.
After reading through the WHOLE announcement, I’m not sure if I missed something, but I still cannot figure out how this feature works, it’s really vague and I don’t know how to send out invites.
Will this work with existing chat groups?
I am really happy about this coming out just now! Removing the middle man for application is something I really love and with additional features make this a really good update
I assume there are platform-specific things behind the scenes, but I’d like that to either be spelled out or put the feature on hold until that can be resolved. Again, working with said platforms to get a release date, not release everything else and then console.
This party feature doesn’t mean anything to me as those I’d be playing with are on console. That’s my personal perspective here. In addition, would it not confuse many that some features exist on some platforms and not others? I say yes because that’s already happening. We should strive for parity with console and all of Roblox’s platforms.
Could this please be added? The “Party” window (previously “Connect” and “Roblox Chat”) has gone through so many changes over the past few weeks yet we still can’t check when the user has it open.
That’s pretty rare, I saw a chart saying only 2% of Roblox players use console lol.
Just curious, what’s confusing about it? It may make you a little mad but it isn’t really confusing to me as they do this all the time. If not you, who’s getting confused?
Hi @TimeFrenzied !
We’re still in the process of rolling the feature out meaning only a subset of our users have full access to the feature at the moment. In the meantime, check out this article if you’re curious about how you can create a party
Will this work with existing chat groups?
It will work with existing threads!
This is an amazing feature!
I just think the 6 person limit is way too small, I’m not sure if this is something that can be extended but this feature would greatly benefit from that.
Pretty awesome ! I’m exited to use the Party for playing with my friends ! Thank you Roblox
Thank you for your response!
If you don’t mind, I have a few more questions regarding parties and how they will work.
-
If a party is just exactly the player limit of an experience, will it send the leader to a new server? What if the invitation isn’t accepted in time and a player who isn’t in the party joins? Will it be reserved for the party (of course, if developers allow servers to be reserved for party members)?
-
Will there possibly be a setting to accept join invites automatically for parties you’re in? e.g. be “forced” to automatically join the party leader? (along as they are in a game, of course)
-
If the above is true, every member has enabled the setting, and a party exceeds the max player limit of a game, who would get into the game first? Would it be in the order they’ve been invited to the party? Will it notify the remaining players that the game the party leader has joined is full?
-
Will there be notifications when any party member joins a game? e.g. a prompt to join a member that is not the leader, upon them joining the game?
-
Will the invites have to be sent manually? Will there be a setting to automatically send an invite to every party member?
Is it weird that i still dont even have the new experience ui? Cus i still have the old one.
Good questions!
If a party is just exactly the player limit of an experience, will it send everyone to a new server? What if the invitation isn’t accepted in time and a player joins? Will it be reserved for the party (of course, if developers allow servers to be reserved)?
When joining an experience via the party feature, our matchmaking service will place all users who have accepted the experience invite into the same server which may result in spinning up a new server in order to accommodate the party size. If you have a late party joiner (e.g. they didn’t accept the invite but later joins via the “Join” button), we won’t reserve a spot for them but we’ll put that user into the same server as the party if there is room (edited)
Will there possibly be a setting to accept join invites for parties you’re in automatically?
We don’t currently have anything like that in place but this is some good feedback!
Will there be notifications when any party member joins a game?
We also don’t have anything specific to party members joining yet. Just out of curiosity, is this something you would want at a Roblox system level for or just giving that information to the developer would be sufficient?
Welcome back, parties. Too bad none of my friends play roblox anymore
If a server size is 3 and you have a party of 6, then we only allow up to 3 people to accept the experience invite
I dont even have the new experience controls, why is this?
If a new server is created, will it be reserved for just party members WHILE the invite prompt is there, or will anyone be able to join? Will this affect games that have the join behavior set to “fill each server as much as possible” or something that isn’t Roblox Managed. (or whatever the option is called)
I meant, if a user other than the party leader joins a different game, would it prompt other party members to join them as well? (Possibly as a party setting, if you plan to add those, hopefully.)
But this would also be useful in the way you meant here,
This could probably be useful in both ways.
This is also slightly unrelated to parties, but do the join prompts for your party leader have anything to do with the invite notifications announced here?
If so, me and a few others have not been receiving these as of recent and cannot figure out why.
Aint no party like a Roblox party
Gonna make a lot more parents stop their kids from playing Roblox
I don’t know if anyone else is having this problem but the chat system on Roblox is very buggy right now and I can’t see new messages anymore and every time you start a chat it just disappears/
