PlayerList Updates

My only annoyance is that long usernames (such as mine) are clipped now, and the transparency of the playerlist doesn’t match the topbar. I think the rows should be made shorter to compensate for this.

Is there a specific design goal being met with the padding around the player names? It looks like the DevHub now lol.

The old player list would shift downwards when the performance stats were enabled. The new player list doesn’t do this and just overlaps.

The PlayerList moves downwards when the performance stats are opened most of the time for me but there does seem to be some inconsistency here. I will investigate.

The old player list did show your stats next to your name on the topbar no matter the screen size. However, in mobile, it’d only show 1 stat, so if you have 2 stats (like “KOs” and “Wipeouts”), only the one that was created first will display.
This behaviour should really be kept for the new one tbh, and I don’t see a reason of removing this.

It’s not too bad, however I feel that this new playerlist doesn’t match with the top bar anymore.

Further more, this one appears to take up more space on screen. A Playerlist should be there to be viewable but not so big that it’s blocking in game content.

The Old one I could leave open, this would have to be minimized depending on the game I’m playing.

Tbh, the change was not needed at all and the new one actually looks worse, at least to me, than the old one.

As others have said, why is Roblox trying to move away from colors and just stick to black and white? Take a look at the Roblox website and try to find any color there (excluding game thumbnails, the blue links and older roblox websites). When Roblox moved away from BC and made it Premium, they just removed the colors (blue for BC, yellow for TBC and orange for OBC), and now the new PlayerList removed the orange badge for game owners and replaced it with a white hammer. Why is Roblox trying to make the site bland and black/white? The Roblox logo used to be also red but now is black.

They look very nice and clean I do prefer the old ones but with the “examine” option.

The “Examine” was on the old playerlist, but as “View”

I actually never saw that although I prefer the old ones.

I like this a lot better than the previous major change, although I believe the old style (specifically with the update that increased the speed of clicking on a player in the list) was better and more simple. At least this was improved!

Honestly, the playerlist design look very similar to the previous playerlist, except it’s bigger (I assume that’s for mobile).

I liked new color and the playerlist size reminded me of the 2006-2012 playerlist. Wish there’s a way for us (The user, not dev) to adjust that playerlist for desktop but it’s pretty good update overall.

To be honest, I prefer the old Playerlist, this one seems nice and clean, but for some reason, I believe the old style was better.

I remember reading something a while back about them shifting away from color so that the user created content on the platform stands out the most.

How do I revert? This new Player-List is too ThiCC and covers a lot of my screen, while the old one didn’t.

This single word describes the playerlist update in almost every single aspect.
Kinda feels like ROBLOX listened to us in this thread, but didn’t exactly hear us ngtl.

The engineers don’t like listening to us, and probably will never listen. Probably 1 / 800 of every feature posted in Engine Features came true. :joy:

Your post is untrue and relatively off-topic.

The engineers do listen to player feedback, however some things like the player list can be tied to UI philosophy - they clearly want to make the default game UI use newer technologies and be visually similar to the website (which isn’t a bad decision).

Side note - Roblox know that the community whine about any change for no real reason, and so if the product managers don’t actually see your argument (or if it’s presented in an immature or rude way); they’re just gonna dismiss it as ‘people complaning for the sake of complaining’.

In my opinion, the design of the old gui is the best design in terms of user interface I have ever seen. The way that the design incorporates blank space to divide columns and sections of the interface is great; that way you only need two colours - the black background, and the white text; to represent anything. It’s simple and that is perhaps the best way to display information on a platform where the user creates their game.

It’s eye pleasing, it presents information is a simple way - the old playerlist also presents A LOT of information in one frame, but divides it well enough so that it’s not a sensory overload.

I feel this new Gui is not better - seems as though it is removing these features I have mentioned previously. The text has massive padding, not displaying as much information on screen at one time. The lack of the white space for diversion is really unfortunate because I felt that design was very native to Roblox and presented information well.

Even if the new UI incorporates new technology; I like the old design for the reasons above. I think that if the new technologies were incorporated or recreated in the old design, that everyone would be happy and the interface would remain useful for everyone.

Being here 12 years (jeez) I’ve seen a lot of reincarnations of the user interface. Sometimes it gets worse, sometimes it gets better, and sometimes it stays neutral. This update seems unnecessary because the changes to the appearance of the UI is so small that it doesn’t really affect anything - however the style is changed so it creates more work for yourself to rehaul everything else to match this.

Seems pretty pointless to me. Industry standards are one thing, but if it isn’t broken; why are we fixing it?

If the new technologies were incorporated to the old design, I think everyone would be happy and this feedback post probably wouldn’t even exist.
