While I really think giving the community an option to switch between PlayerLists is good, I donāt think Roblox would do it. They have already brought redesigns to different stuff, such as the group menu, the Group Admin page, and in 2015 the site itself, and when those happened, we didnāt have any options to revert back and keep the old one. I think the only modernization with a switch back if we didnāt like it was the new physics engine, they gave us the switch but then still removed it. I donāt think itās likely to happen now after years of not bringing us switches to switch back from redesigns.
In my opinion, the new playerlist looks better than the old one. (If we could just see the stats on top of itā¦)
Besides my personal preferences, Iām experiencing some weird issue with it though. It looks like a bug commented above, but Iām not sure if itās the same problem:
Apparently some players donāt appear in the player list, so the total stats of every team make no sense with the values of the players displayed there. These screenshots are from Person299ās Minigames.
This is quite frequent and it often happens since the very start of a new round, in which new teams are created. Afaik the player list always works well when there are no teams.
Hope this is fixed soon!
Personally, I donāt like the new PlayerList or the way Roblox is updating itself now. The old PlayerList could show more members and there was nothing wrong with it.
The money used to design this new PlayerList could have been put to some other more useful update such as allowing profile game transfers or better moderation. The money could have also been turned to pure profit.
The padding exists to meet mobile design and user experience guidelines as they plan on bringing player lists to mobile. Also, innovation and progress only happen when engineers and designers try to improve upon existing features. Change is necessary for innovation and pushing forward the platform.
Roblox as a company is made up of smaller teams that focus on different products that make up the platform, Studio, and game engine as a whole. Cancelling this update as suggested would have made no impact on moderation or profile game transfers.
This has some weird design inconsistencies, but the biggest problem I have with this is that you canāt see what stats you have on the leaderboard unless you scroll down and find yourself. This is frustrating in tycoon games, for example, where youāre probably constantly moving up and down the leaderboard, and in this new update you have to scroll through the player list and find yourself just to tell how much money you have. The previous design just showed your money on the top bar, itās so strange how something so essential was deliberately removed in this new update.
I think everyone is being too harsh with the new player list. I prefer the new player list to the old one, are there bugs? Yes. Is that a bad thing? No. ROBLOX has to continue to upgrade their software and some people wonāt like that, you canāt please everyone so you just try to please who you can. This player-list could in the long run be what brings into Customizable Icons for the player-list and so on.
At some point, everything has to evolve to survive.
Surely itād be better to re-enable the old player-list while the (quite significant IMO) bugs such as leaderstats not appearing in the top bar are fixed? Letting bugs like this slide isnāt a good idea and could result in more of them down the line. I donāt see how itās a good idea to leave the new one enabled while these bugs are still present and negatively affecting gameplay
You must find bugs to fix bugs, going through all of the issues now means they can figure out every bug and fix them which they are doing. Some things, such as Leaderboard issues are being fixed and those exact fixes being released. The player-list size has always been an issue from what I remember on ROBLOX. Sometimes, the wait is the hardest thing to deal with but trust me, if you work with patience then patience will work with you.
This is a large problem Iāve been noticing too, not just at Person299 Minigames but other games as well, hoping Roblox will get on this issue immediately.
I have a fix for this in the works.
Largest problem is lag, roblox has been incredibly slow since the new playerlists came out
I think although your trying to modernise Roblox you are doing it all wrong I know we had a warning for this one, but still itās just not quite there maybe itās the fact you are updating the PlayerList without the rest of the core GUI or that the leaderstats donāt show up by your name or itās still to big.
Although some changes to the UI would be nice, it didnāt follow up on what I thought it would be.
And I can agree - the new PlayerList just looks a little too big for me, and the information on it gets truncated if weāre dealing with big information.
I know some people here have already suggested some similar ideas but I guess Iāll throw mine in too (for a refresher):
Thatās pretty much everything about this new PlayerList. Itās nice to have some change on the platform.
But the idea of having compact UIs is still (personally) a good practice!
There seems to be an error with the PlayerList Script in the CoreGui, this also happened to my friend.
Hereās the error that is being thrown by it, I have the PlayerList disabled on this game but it is showing this error anyways, this isnāt something the Developers can fix because itās in CoreGui.
That might be coursing the lag.
Ever since the PlayerList Update Iāve had problems with loading into my game. Anyone else having issues? Datastore wonāt work anymore as well Iām thinking itās because of all these yielding issues with the new PlayerListā¦(This was on my endā¦ sorry)
There are some things that really bugs me out.
They capped the number size to 6 digits. In big simulator games, where you get tons of values, it all looks like this. 99.24T. Before, Roblox had values up to billions. Now, it just abbreviates it. This really bugs me out.
Each player for the playerlist is so big, you have to scroll down tons of times in larger servers. One regular name now, is equivalent to almost three old ones. I really think that it is necessary to make this change.
The Owner icon freaks me out. The hammer is extremely ugly in my opinion. They honestly could have at least kept the old one.
Lastly, this doesnāt match with any other buttons, like the chat, backpack, tools, and the esc button. The playerlist stands out from the rest.
Long roblox names will have ā¦ās in the name. Once you click on it, it still displays the ā¦ on the new one. Then, I have to press the escape to see the full name. This is extremely annoying for admins in a game when they have to kick someone.
If Roblox could solve all those problems, then I will be completely happy with it, although I still think that the old one was much better than this one. This was a totally unnecessary update, and Iām pretty positive no one actually enjoys this.
Thank you,

The change that has really hurt things the most is definitely the truncation of numbers. If devs could maybe control the truncation, then it would be at least semi-tolerable.
It was a bit strange at first, but then I came to like it.
