using this client will probably be optional, if not they will probably still keep the website open because some people might prefer to navigate on the site and to redirect links to the new client

making alts to be in it wouldn’t be easy any way because after a bit you’d be hit with the verification slowing you down a bunch

Hey,

Whats so different about the app now? All of the features looked the same.

Didn’t we already have that in the browser version for awhile? Whats the point in installing it then?

Also, what do you mean you have to be opt-in? Can’t you just install it?

The Windows Store/UWP version of Roblox is completely separate from this experiment, which is being carried out on the standard Win32 Roblox client, which has been developed since 2006.

I remember seeing people posting about it when the flags were briefly enabling it. People complained about how laggy it was. Due the amount of programming already in it, potato computers haven’t stood a chance prior this. What should change when you’re adding much more?

What will happen to plug-ins for roblox website version? Will they become a thing of the past?

This is pretty cool, although I wish the Create page was available as well.

While testing I noticed two things:

  • User settings reset when you close the Roblox App
I had set the Camera Sensitivity & Volume to 1. Rejoining the game preserved these settings, however, after closing and re-opening the Roblox App, these settings reset.

  • The Premium page’s purchase options are disabled (even though they’re enabled when you click the golden roblox icon on the home page - top right)

I also noticed that, weirdly GeForce Experience (Alt + Z if you use NVidia’s recording stuff) seems to recognise various buttons in the app, including icons are recording surfaces…

Is this similar setup to going back to using Roblox Browser application?
(I think before web browsers supported launching other applications from within the browser)

The whole beta feels so… clunky.

Everything is unreactive and slow, I can’t really name a single portion of it that’s completely polished. At the moment, it just feels like Roblox slapped the mobile version of the app onto Windows and called it a “seamless experience.”

After using the program, I still would much prefer the website by 100-fold.

Only issue I have with this is losing the ability to open multiple tabs to increase efficiency… Also, will there be the same search functions as the website or will it be like Windows Store or mobile where being on your homepage searches only for players, being on games searches for games, etc.?

I don’t think that’s the Beta, that’s the Windows Store version.

Windows Store (check top bar)

Roblox Player (not the Windows Store app):

The Windows Store app topbar is thicker than the Roblox Player’s usual topbar (because of Windows)
So you’re not in the beta.

This is good and all. But are users that are in the testing program also get a chance to opt-in?
Like i mean they are only about 6k users in it which is about less than 1% of the windows users so why not add them?

The thing is, people who probably aren’t in the devforum have it, and can’t give any feedback.

They probably have an established way of giving feedback. I don’t see how being on the devforum or not matters.

(Yes I know I made another post way earlier, but it was messed up)

Seems like a good idea, and nice to know that Roblox is allowing the community to try it out.

Will this be available for people who use Mac?

Will there be more testers for this app after this first rollout? (This is just a question because I want in lol.)
Adding to this, I personally would’ve rather had it so every beta tester got the option to opt in instead random Windows users.

Anyways, this seems cool, I hope sooner or later I can get into the program, and I am ecstatic to see this app get published!

I don’t get it, like how can the staff members pick people that aren’t in the devforum unless they use some kind of a system that randomly picks a user that has installed roblox windows version months ago or so

If that was the case then i will 100% wont get in because i had the windows app version for 2 years now

A majority of the platform are not developers (especially not in the beta program), but are players. In my opinion the user experience is what matters the most, not just specifically the developers’.

A majority of the roblox platform are just ordinary players; this means that they would probably want their feedback more than devs as developers are a minority of the platform. It would be more important for roblox to focus on the players’ experience. Plus, it is likely random.

Also they are millions of people that are window users. And i think that they are only like 100 players that are in. Does that mean that 10,000+ users will get in to test it out?
