I agree Roblox should give us Devs notice before they make something that affects are revenue of money. After all many of us live on our income and removing an asset can mean the difference between making enough to survive and not. Removing ads should have been announced and then asked what we think about it. I completely agree you should get a refund cause when you payed for ads you payed for all the features and then a feature to be removed is completely unfair!
I feel it is becoming harder and harder for small developers to get a game noticed with all the recent changes. First the featured sort was removed, and now ads are removed from the most popular page.
Iām all for less intrusions (like ads), but I really hope that standardization is not the only reason for this change. There is nothing wrong with optimizing for a platform.
Large button sizes being a good example. I love them on touch-enabled devices, but they get in the way on mouse-enabled devices.
In terms of games, I would think sponsoring is the new ideal form of advertising.
I personally like this change but for people who rely on ads to get their game more visits that might be the bad part of this change. Other than that it seems like an overall good change for the site.
Can you make a system that moderator can check ads if they are going with rules and doesnāt attack others games/groups etc. and if they would be serious, not ads like @Toadiant said and included. Also this is a good update, because we do already have sponsored games.
Finally, I got a reply but this reply actually got me confused. I wasnāt really expecting them to give me the Robux back (as rectangle ads still appear here and there) but this seemed to me as an automatic reply for situations like players complaining about Rthro and such. So yeah, here it is:
Hello Ćmer,
Thank you for contacting Roblox Customer Care regarding your advertisement removing concern.
As you can see in announcement that we recently removed the ads from the games page and game search page only but your advertisement can be seen at home page, game details page, catalog and other places within the Roblox.
Moreover, we are always working to improve the Roblox experience. With each new update weāre committed to bringing better features to Roblox. We know that sometimes it might seem challenging at first when things change, but we encourage you to give each new change a try. You might find that you like it even better!
We appreciate you taking the time to write in with your feedback for Roblox and want to confirm that your suggestion has been received. Although we may not be able to follow-up further, we do value and use player ideas and suggestions to bring new features to Roblox.
We also encourage you to watch the blog and devforum for announcements about new features and upcoming changes to Roblox.
Sincerely,
Grant

I didnāt have a problem with the removal, I just had a problem with it getting announced after it was made. Us devs should have been given time to prepare as always. I think I made it very clear on my mail, but, what can we do sometimes?
Goodbye 7 DevExable Dollars
I completely support this decision, it makes less clutter which makes it easier to navigate, on the down-low it could potentially harm group owners who advertise.
Iām against the idea of telling developers after an update.
As can be seen multiple times throughout this thread, developers wasted Robux on square ads that are pretty much pointless now due to their removal from the game page.
In the future maybe you can add an extra moderation system that keeps ads original and professional, i.e. no āflamingo has adminā ads or just no more of those annoying, repetitive, low-quality ads.
I respect the decision to improve user experience of the site and can understand the reasoning behind this with regard to the above insight from other members, although some notice prior to making a decision like this which directly impacts developers visibility and exposure for their games would have been highly appreciated, considering it will take a negative impact on the CTR of rectangular advertisements.
As a group owner of a niche community that almost entirely relies on these advertisements, this change will undoubtably cause problems and again, would have appreciated some notice to prepare other methods of promotion.
If some words are misspelled, before I give them, I want to say that I do not speak English correctly, sorry
I think itās great, but there is still a class of ads that try to steal your roblox account, for example there are ads that promise āRobux freeā or āSecret eventā or such valuable catalog items, like Dominus, etc., but when you enter said games there is a parody that supposedly the account of roblox is in the game, and is talking to other users about āRobux freeā or āsecret eventā and when you finish the obby what happened was that I asked for your password of roblox , obviously all do not fall into that, but people who do not know can fall very easily in this scam.
An example of how an ad promises this wings of 800 robux completely free:
Anyone can fall and think that it is a roblox event that gives wings:
As you can see supposedly I am loading this supposed event and in the list of players can see the scam that supposedly are a admin of roblox, and the account of roblox:
After that they put a pretty easy obby to supposedly give you the wings of the event, but when you finish you only ask for your password of roblox as you can see in the following image:
Honestly I would like you to fix this problem, it is quite serious, but if I was not as active in Roblox as I am, I think I would believe this scam honestly, I hope it will be fixed soon, thanks for reading all this, wow I had never published anything so long haha
Itās kinda disappointing for a developer, but as a player itās better.
Also itās nice that you decided to tell us after you did the update!
That is a very bad idea.
If people can just choose if they want ads or not it is not fair to the developers who spend thousands of robux for someone to see their ad.
People should not feel it is an inconvenience just to view an ad that barely affects them.
Hereās an interesting question;
How Impressions on Ads work?
-
So if I have AdBlock on would it still count as an impression?
-
If the Ad is shown on the webpage but the player has to scroll to view it does that also count as an impression? (Does this also apply for Sponsored Games?)
If the answer to both my first and second question is Yes, we have a really bad problem.
Good for terrible ads, but for actually good ads, this is a small bummer for the devs, like me, who want to get more views on their game.
Does this affect Sponsored Games? Iāll be sponsoring one of my games sooner or later.
How would this affect Builderās Clubās āad-freeā benefit?
I understand the change, however now for newer games by smaller developers, it will be very hard for them to get noticed. Everyone will now have to rely on social media like Twitter or Reddit to get their games noticed, which can sometimes be unreliable. lt also exposes the games to a very small audience.
I have a feeling that this was done to enforce Developer Events more on us. Now the only real way to expand our games to a larger audience is to use them, which can be really time consuming.
Continuing the discussion from Removal of Advertisements from the Games Page:
i disagree. users pay loads of money for advertisements. to have an algorithm as you suggested, or limit the amounts of times an advertisement is displayed would just be a waste of their money.
