Removal of Advertisements from the Games Page

Bad idea. There’d be a lot of closed baseplate games there and it’d be taken advantage of by people trying to boost their actual games by forcing a TP from the baseplate to the main place.

Isn’t that kind of like the up and coming section? Does anybody know how the up and coming section works?

For these newer sorts like Simulator, Tycoon, and Up-And-Coming, I’d love to know how games get on there if anyone has an explanation or link or something.

I think developers should be able to give their games a genre, similar to the way in which you can pick it which gear types can be used.

That’s because the people featuring games weren’t even checking to see if any of the games were high-quality or following their guidelines. I’d say at least 50% of them weren’t.

Roblox doesn’t necessarily need to keep the Featured sort open for submissions but a “New” sort or something would be good.

It’s a pretty big bummer. Game page ads are the best type of ads.

This has its pros and cons, I could see this being great for including more games into the front page, or making the ads have more variety in places like the homepage (as they would be more ads in less space) yet, the Games page is one of the most visited pages in roblox and has a higher reach as more people see them; could this perhaps change the reach of ads and I’d say lower the purchases of ads?

Censorship would be good, yet random ads like memes and such bring attention to users, as they find them fun; yet there’s a lot of low quality ads and I agree.

To be honest I kinda agree, but also disagree with removing ads from the game page.

Pros: It can help to fit more games in the page together and get some games more notice.

Cons: It can hurt future developers that are making games and trying to get to the front page, and just gives more opportunities to the current developers that are on the game pages now.

Yeah I agree with this but disagree at the same time. I feel like this’ll help with stopping the meme advertisements but it’ll also make it harder for game owners to advertise because most people are on the games page a lot more than any other page in my opinion.

I don’t agree with this change either, most games get popular by advertising, and the game search, and games page is were most people see them on, besides the home page. I think this was a big decision to make but they probably don’t need ads anymore if they are making a lot of revenue.

If it was a big decision one would think they’d post it on the DevForums before doing it to see how people would react instead of doing it and posting something after the fact. I agree that if they don’t need 3rd party ads, they should get rid of them, but user made ads should definitely stay.

Is not a good enough reason to get rid of such a big source of publicity for players and games.

i know im late, but i just found this. and lets just say its nice that not only is competition more intense elsewhere, but it also reduces clutter. much needed, especially on the mobile site only i use

Maybe it was a little bad idea. Now we only have a few spaces now for the square ads, which is bad.

Though I understand why this is being done, this is just making the normal rectangular ads less worth making. This can be very annoying for people who have paid a good amount to get some good ads made.

Rectangular ads are still a thing, and there’s still ads on plenty of other places, just not the games page. Square ads aren’t a sole type of ad, just change the layout of the ad to a rectangular one.

Rectangular ads are still visible on individual game’s pages (not front page, but a game’s description/store/servers page). They’ll still be displayed, just not smack on the front page.

That’s one more place to lose 1 click, which can bring stats down.

So I have a question about which platforms the banner ads are now displayed on. In particular, I am wondering if these banner ads get shown on the mobile app at all.

  1. Are these banner ads shown in the Roblox mobile app?

  2. Or are the banner ads only shown to visitors to the Roblox website via a web browser?

With my quick check on my mobile app, Roblox doesn’t show any user ads on mobile at all. However, banner ads are still able to be seen on other pages of the Roblox site.

This is a interesting update because on one hand it will allow for better use of the game page. And more visually appealing. Though I do feel a lot of the attention or “clicks” ads get is from the game page.

Most people are on this page so I think it could drastically cut the efficiency of ads. Although I can say the game page will definitely have a better look to it.
