Removing System Badges from Profiles

[Update] January 23, 2026

Hi Creators,

We’re constantly working to make Profiles the best possible place to showcase unique identity, achievements, and valuable contributions to the platform. With that goal in mind, we will be removing system badges from Profiles in early 2026.

Many of the older, Roblox-awarded system badges are no longer achievable, and they don’t reflect the ways users and creators express themselves today. To help us simplify the Profile experience and make space for more impactful, personalized features, we’ll be removing these legacy system badges from the Profiles surface in early 2026.

What’s NOT Changing?

  • Developer-Awarded Badges: Badges earned from experiences and games.
  • Verified Badges: Official verification badges.
  • Administrator Badges: For official Roblox Staff accounts, Administrator badges will continue to be displayed on the profile header.

Our core direction is to transform Profiles into a highly relevant and valuable hub for showcasing unique user identity and creator presence. For example, we are already planning to begin testing new ways for creators to feature their created experiences on their profile.

We’re excited about the future of Profiles and making them a dynamic reflection of what you create on Roblox. We wanted to give you this early heads-up as these improvements roll out.

Stay tuned for more updates!

From my belief, it would be nice to give players that ability to customize their own profile at certain costs of course.
For example, we could make it the familiar way how Steam does represent their player profiles by giving players specific items they offer as a merch or a form of advertisement of their game as a whole.
Like a background animation or a single image background that covers your profile and gives a good representation of your theme preferences and such.

Profiles do lack creativity but if they’re implemented correctly, they might earn a good way of avoiding moderational needs but also be creative to players to do what they’d want.
And in terms of moderational needs, least you would need to do is take care of the game that made the risky banner for the profile and the damage would be removed from all other profiles if it were to get spread out to more users.

On top of that, you could make a way to showcase your most liked badges you’ve obtained, similar to DevForum’s badges. However, all badges selected to be shown would be shown in a random order to avoid any certain issues with bypassable filters amongst of certain words.

Lastly, we need a new form of representation to Developers who have been on this platform for a long while learning certain skills to their extent. It would be nice to also make it shown in public games or so.
I’m just stating this to eliminate the vague representation of the verified badge that was seen as a flex tool more than an authentic representation of certain people on the platform.

Will the API that shows a user’s “System Badges” (https://accountinformation.roblox.com/v1/users/29666286/roblox-badges) still function after these badges are removed from the profile page? Is there a plan to deprecate and remove this API in the future?

To be honest, this is a needed change that will free up some more real estate on a profile. System badges were one of the few remaining ‘legacy’ features that existed in a time where Roblox was more of a ‘game’ in itself than a platform.

Most of these badges have been unavailable for over a decade, and there’s literally no purpose of them other than nostalgia really. It was fun back in 2008, and I remember trying to get all of the badges. Now they are just so outdated.

The visit milestone badges, for example, are so outdated. Back in 2008, 2009, etc., getting 100 visits was a huge achievement. I remember getting Bricksmith for 1,000 visits and feeling over the moon. Nowadays, a simple sponsored ad you can get 1,000 visits in a matter of hours with a brand new experience. And the top games have millions of players at once - Roblox has scaled way above and beyond these badges.

Funny enough, the combat badges are so old they called KOs ‘victories’, way back in old Roblox we had the ability to see our wipeouts (total deaths) and KOs, to get these badges. Nowadays, just so ancient.

Are these just gone now or is there still a place to see them?

It’s pretty sad if they are indeed gone forever. Why are classic Roblox features constantly getting removed.

Oh no, a controversial announcement coming through. First you make the avatar preview as the banner and now you’re removing some of the most appreciated badges? Rip Gamer badges.

Could you guys at least give accessories for the removed badges so we can keep a piece of history in our inventory?

I’m gonna need to see the blueprint of how you guys want the profiles to look like before I am all too happy.

While I don’t like this, I do get why it’s happening. I just ask that instead of a full removal, you convert them into accessories for those who do have these profile badges. Little medals we can continue to show off. Maybe consider variants of the ROBLOX Veterans Medal?

I personally find my Roblox history to be extremely valuable and relevant to my Roblox identity as a long time player. I see no real reason for this feature to be removed and find this very disappointing.

Y-You’re joking right? You will not remove something from the past won’t ya?

It sucks that they’re being removed. It’s true that most aren’t obtainable anymore, but they show a player’s history and what they’ve worked for. I hope you add more badges like the verification badge in the future. If you could, give at least something to people that have gotten those badges

Take screenshots if you care that much

I think this change is fine as long as they can still be accessed by APIs.

Cleaning up profiles so we can customize them better in the future is fine. But straightup deleting the data is not ok

It would be better to just add more that could be obtainable in the modern day, instead of removing the entire feature.

Erasing history is something sad to see but there’s is always ideas to replace them.

Please do not release this, alot of people still care about those badges

True, plus the icons for the badges are outdated. (still uses the old 2016 design type)

So please, just update the icons and put more system badges. (maybe use the achievements of the XBOX and PlayStation versions as badges)

To be honest? I think this is a pretty decent change. Nowadays the only badges you’re able to earn are only very few, and they’re no longer really cared about anymore. More profile customizations could be made in place, taking examples from platforms such as Discord and Snapchat, and applied to the platform in a safe way.

Does this mean that all users on site who have been awarded these badges will receive no alternative recognition? Would you be able to clarify whether users who have earned these badges will receive anything in lieu of them instead?

If you’re now removing another legacy system are there any plans to have a substitute to system badges? It’s still pretty sad that another piece of history being erased, but it does gives more room for improving profiles. I hope that this update won’t be just that you’re removing another legacy system just because it’s outdated (even though it is).

They look fine. They have a history of turning perfectly fine UI designs into corporate slop.
