Getting Started with Ro-Render V4

About Ro-Render

Ro-Render is a powerful and user-friendly tool designed to create top-down orthographic projections of your maps, primarily for generating in-game minimaps. Since its initial release in January 2021, Ro-Render has become an essential tool for developers looking to add detailed and accurate minimaps to their games.

Ro-Render is currently in its third iteration, with the fourth version on the horizon. Each update brings new features, improvements, and optimizations, ensuring that Ro-Render evolves to meet the needs of the Roblox developer community.

Originally developed by @Widgeon, Ro-Render was created as a custom solution to help developers create high-quality minimaps for their games. Over time, the tool has been enhanced and modified to improve usability and expand its capabilities, making it accessible for developers of all skill levels.

How to Begin Rendering with Ro-Render V4

1. Installation

  • Download the latest version of Ro-Render from the official GitHub Repository or DevForum post.
  • Open the Ro-Render plugin inside of your Roblox Studio project.

2. Preparing Ro-Render

  • Press Start Render.
  • Go to Ro-Render’s website and log in to your account.
  • Create a new pipeline ID by pressing Create Render.
  • Copy and paste the pipeline ID into your Ro-Render plugin inside your project.
  • Press Auto Configure or manually resize the orange outline to render the part of the map you’d like.

3. Rendering Your Map

  • Press Start Rendering.
  • Do not touch anything while Ro-Render processes your map. This process uses a lot of memory from your device. If Roblox states that it is not responding, DO NOT exit Roblox; just allow it to complete the rendering.
  • Once the map render is complete, go to the Ro-Render website and navigate to My Renders to download your rendered map.

Sounds interesting, I’ll give this a shot when I render my minimap in a few weeks.

Apart from the website, what are the key differences from the previous version to now? Is it more performant/faster?

Yes, Ro-Render V4 is faster and more performant. However, It has not been released yet but is scheduled to launch soon.

I love RoRender, and everything it has to offer.

Something that’s quite rare to find these days is an internal minimap renderer for games that don’t have an “outside”, but for example are a collection of corridors and rooms.

When rendering an internal only game with RoRender you obviously just see the roof which isn’t ideal if you want a sort of “3D Feel” to it.

Possibly something for the future :eyes: either way, keep up the great work!
