Could you define “existing player base”? Does it have to be 100 players per day, 100 concurrent players, 1000 concurrent players?
I am asking because we are working on a game right now. It is lacking a lot of features but we still made it public and advertise it lightly to get player feedback. I would like to know what category would that be in.
But the playerbase is rather small. What I am saying is I wouldn’t want not be considered because of the small playerbase. It just so happens we applied for the summer accelerator and we never made it to the pitch phase (with a different game that also had small playerbase) without feedback.
I might be wrong but I immediately assumed that others just had bigger playerbases and more established games and that’s why there were picked.
Any number of players would warrant a reviewer to hop into the game. Higher player counts get more review time: a game with 100 players needs to make a more immediate positive impression than a game with 1000. Use of cool tech, especially new tech, is the best way to get that positive impression. A game with 100 players that is using a lot of really cool tech is much more likely to get to the pitch phase, than a game with 10,000 players that is much more retro.
tl;dr player count does not impact your score, but does impact the time a reviewer spends in your game(s).
I’m curious about this “reviewer” system, a lot of our new technology that we developed is on the back-end for server optimization and custom replication, is there an email address or person we could message so we could send them gameplay footage as well as other videos that demonstrate our current creations?
We sent a couple videos to you via direct messages here on the developer forum when the Spring 2021 Accelerator applications were open, but we’re not sure if they were reviewed or if that was the right way to submit footage.
Hi everyone! I’m looking to join a team, or start a team with other people
I’m a clothing designer, artist, and an event organizer for Roblox.
I have 7 years of experience doing digital art and clothing design. I can make thumbnails, gamepasses, customize UV maps, and any style of clothes. I have worked with Gucci and many top games on Roblox!
I applied with 4 other people who I worked with for a while. Some I worked with for years, others for a couple months. I know I don’t have that much experience with working together as a team, but I would love the opportunity for me to work better as a team player without having to worry about money, which is my biggest problem. All in all, I am looking forward to receiving a response.
I might join this and I still need a team so if anyone wants to join my team or anyone wants to team up with me I am a Builder and a Scripter for about 5 year mainly in building.
We purposely excluded any questions regarding video footage or images. We are only interested in reviewing public Roblox Experiences that you and your team have developed. This makes our review process super streamlined.
TechCrunch recently published an article on the Accelerator Program. The article interviews four of our Fall Accelerator teams. I would highly recommend giving it a read if you’re interested in previous participants projects.
I get you have to be 18 in regards to the payment options, but if you are around the age say 17-16, could there potentially be a option for parents/guardians to sign off on anything regarding the payments?
Do you approximately know how long before the start of the summer accelerator will the teams know wether they are accepted or not? Considering they’ve gotten till the pitch phase?
Our goal is for participants to have at least 1 month of notice that they made it in. I would prefer this be more like 6 weeks, but with 3 classes a year it does tend to get close.
I’m just now stumbling across this program. After being on the site for over 12 years. I’ve never came to realize there was such opportunities on-site. I wish I would’ve known about this last year! LOL
I’ve applied for the Summer Accelerator alongside my life partner. This sounds like a great opportunity to smaller Developers to be able to bring new Games to the Roblox Gaming community.
Hopefully I could get into this program. Considering I dedicate most of my time every day attempting to creating new things so player’s could utilize their creativity or ideas in a way that seems limitless. Examples : Plot systems, vehicle customization, or avatar customization
I would’ve applied to the Spring Accelerator too, but It was such short notice for me. It was not until last year I’ve realized there was a new forum specifically for Developers, since the previous forum were removed back in June of 2017.
Am interested in applying for the summer with some friends, only concern is the review process for the playable experiences:
If our game has no players, will it automatically void the application or will it still be looked at? I have a finished and pretty polished game that I developed that would definitely consider having “cool tech” especially frontend wise with ui/visuals/animations that most wouldn’t expect to see in a game made by 1 guy, and also another unfinished sci-fi city game that has a lot of cool stuff (won’t be done by deadline for summer app sadly). Ran a sponsor a while back but the performance wasn’t that good so have held off on trying to gain a large player base in favor of taking a small break & rebalancing gameplay + new content. My friends that are also interested have an unfinished game that is pretty close to a beta/alpha but still showcases some cool stuff in it.
Just wondering as none of us have a large recurring player base yet, but we’ve all put quite a bit of time into trying to create quality experiences and plan on continuing to do so. Something like this would be very beneficial and enjoyable.
Hi there @RoughSphereBlox, I’m sorry if this was already answered in the thread, I tried to read through all of it to check for this question.
I’m wondering why there is a minimum of 2 players for a team?
My initial thoughts were maybe - to make sure the game studio can complete the game within 12 weeks, and maybe you want feedback about developing on Roblox w/ teammates, and not just solo?
Just curious. I went ahead and applied for Summer as a solo dev and included some context since you mentioned you’d appreciate hearing from everbody. I’ve created over 6 games, each in under 12 weeks, and 2 recent ones have seen some good success
(I script, 3d model or build, do 2d graphics, etc)
Tiny Town - 10 million plays (first version built in ~4 weeks) 🌇 Tiny Town 👪 Tycoon - Roblox
Toy Trains - 4.9 million plays (first version built in ~8 weeks while working a full time job) Toy Trains 🚂 - Roblox
Swing Racing - built in a week as a quick fun project Swing Racing! - YouTube
Equinox Real Time Strategy game - built this in ~8 weeks Equinox - YouTube
Just sharing so that in case the reason for 2+ devs is the ability to complete a project in the allotted 12 weeks, wanted to show I’m definitely up for the challenge!!
