Settings For Friend Requests

As a developer you receive hundreds to thousands of friend requests a day. This makes it difficult to connect with other developers who are trying to reach out to you and vice versa.

This can be solved with a couple features:

  1. Adding a “Only Verified Users” setting under Friends & contacts that only allows verified users to send you a friend request.
  2. Adding a filter in the requests page where you could select “Verified Users” that will only show verified friend requests.

In addition to #1, there could be another setting to disable friend requests solving issues addressed in this post: Ability to regulate/turn off incoming Friend Requests

At least personally, I don’t think limiting or filtering by verified users in itself may be the best option to cover this. There are a lot of creators who just aren’t verified; whether that be because they don’t want to ID verify, they aren’t eligible, or they haven’t yet been caught up in a verification wave. While, yes, adding this feature would certainly help with connecting with other verified developers; I also don’t think that is necessarily the ideal goal here.

The biggest use-case which I can personally see for this potential feature would be in the scenario where you know that someone who has a verified badge is going to send you a friend request and you wish to accept it quickly; however, at least in that scenario, a search bar would probably be more efficient.
