Surface lights and their shape

Been playing around with surface lights recently, and while making various circles out of parts to get circular light spots I though to myself “hey this would probably make a good feature request”.

So as it currently stands surface lights are currently locked into being a rectangle or square sized at their parents size. What I’m proposing is they be changed to match their parents shape or class shape with respect to the given side they’re on (as seen below).

Having the emission shape be defined by matching surface and parent shape might be a little awkward so a property on surface lights might be a better alternative, but the core idea is still the same. Being able to light up triangles and circle shaped areas without the need for 3+ parts would be pretty nice.

This would be nice, plus the same feature with particles. Currently, particles don’t match their shapes either.

I would like to bump this. It’s a really important feature to have and wouldn’t be that hard to implement! Just have the edge of the light be determinant on the bottom edges of the block/cylinder.
