Terrain Editor Update [Beta]

Great, can’t wait for new studio ui update but…

Can’t you just release all UI updates when you make new UI fully? First was notifications. Now Terrain Editor. Just do Studio Test channel like you did ZHarmony. Or what that channel was named

Will we see a lot more detailed and accurate editing of terrain with increased clarity in the terrain grid? I also really like this update!

The brush size slides are way too small. Please make an exception to the UI style and make it so there is a line break between the “Brush Size” label and the sliders themselves, for the sake of quality of life and ability to easily select without manually typing a number.

Can you PLEASE Make a way so that the terrain isn’t on a grid please. Also, make a way so that the terrain/water doesn’t curve down were terrain ends. or at least make a way to cut the terrain very straight without it curving down.

When will you add the multi-material support for 3d models? It’s very annoying to work with models that have a couple of simple materials from the asset pack and it imports itself as one material, or the case if one model has 2 textures or more

This is amazing, the terrain editor has been needing an update!

Love this and in the future I hope terrain generation will be less taxing on your pc and we’ll be able to make the brushes smaller.

(also while we’re here I would love to see a seed system that lets you choose how you want it to look like how minecraft has the preset seeds

Yeah, I meant that. With ability adding new custom materials to Terrain we could make our Experiences look better.

this is technically possible if you override a material in the terrain that you don’t use with the texture you want to use, you need pbr textures, but still, it’s technically downloaded terrain materials.

This is why you don’t make terrain for large maps in studio

Better to use third party tools like worldmachine, blender, etc. then import in to roblox
I think the roblox tools are only useful for quick post-edits

We need to be given clear and easy-to-use tools to optimize the rendering of the voxels, of the terrain, to be able to adjust the size and level of detail of the voxels themselves, at our convenience, according to the experience we want to develop.

VERY GOOD. I like this update. Much needed. Only bug I have encountered is that my friend’s terrain editing orb sphere is not visible to me in team create, which should be easy to fix.

When using grow and then smooth (within sculpt tool by pressing shift), the terrain becomes a sentient organism and starts breathing. :frowning:

(it starts receding by itself, note that after the initial use of grow tool I do not press anything)

it snaps and the sculpt is so sensitive , now using sculpt on strength 1 is basically using the draw tool – i dislike this update

I just got this; Terrain overall seems to be giving me more lag.

For UI, it will take a bit to get used to as some buttons are in slightly different areas. That’s impacting how fast I work with Terrain in the short-term, but might be better in the long-term. I’m also facing bugs that others have reported here.

Why is there now a grid lock? It’s a lot harder to get what you want now…
