For context, a feature request was filed on this subject around this time last year. It was closed because the team didn’t know if these events would be reoccurring. Since then, there have been 7 official Roblox events.
There currently isn’t a category dedicated to bugs and feedback for official Roblox events. Recently, there have been ≈23 bug reports filed for the Mega Hunt alone. Despite the FAQ page telling users to use support for bugs and feedback, most of these reports haven’t been closed, and some have actually been addressed by engineers. It seems that users are confused where to report these issues on the forum because I’ve seen these reports in the website, other, catalog asset, and engine bug categories. I’ve also seen some users argue whether these reports are allowed due to the FAQ’s directions. Therefore, an event category would help resolve this confusion and organize these reports for reporters and staff.
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my experience reporting bugs concerning official events on the forum by (1) organizing them (reducing dupes), (2) making it more convenient to find and support them, and (3) increasing confidence that they’ll be addressed (knowing the events team would actively monitor them).
Hey there, while we’re obviously not going to reprimand users for reporting these issues on the forum, we mention in the FAQ of the event that we intended for users to report these via customer support:
Therefore, we would prefer users follow that path instead of posting on the forum. If it happens that someone doesn’t follow the instructions and it ends up in #bug-reports:other-bugs or some other category, that’s not the end of the world and we might still address.
As many of these issues are transient depending on game content of participating experiences, it’s not really in our interest to create a whole separate bug report category for them, and most of the issues are not creator-facing.
Wouldn’t having an events category still be more ideal, though? If users can file reports for events on the forum, I think action needs to be taken to organize these reports and inform users that they’re allowed to file reports for these issues. Could this FR be forwarded to the events team at least? I just want it to be considered more rather than quickly dismissed.
Also, you stated that a category would probably be created for events if they reoccur, so I’m a little confused by the inaction. From my experience, reporting on the forum is more effective than sending reports to CS, where it’ll have to jump through more hoops and I’ll probably just receive a canned response. From a development perspective, I think it’d be more ideal to receive quality detailed reports that can be vouched by other users to gauge impact rather than receiving a lot of individual reports of various quality. Also, I’d think feedback from multiple users in something like a feature request would be more valuable than individual suggestions. Please consider the long term.
Yeah, that was just my initial thought at the time. The events team decided they prefer the customer support route and linking that at the event page, since these events are aimed at the player-facing side of Roblox primarily.
I don’t know if you can answer this but why are US users and people outside of the US seperated with the catagory bug report progress or providing feedback?
Like why do people outside of the US need to use the “Bug Report” catagory instead of the Contests & Events catagory
I had no problem reporting it within the events catagory so im kinda confused here
I created a pretty length thread on it in the first hour, so it could ideally be fixed ASAP.
I understand that you are meant to make a ticket, but I figured the forum was a better place for particularly time sensitive bugs for events.
So I feel like this would be pretty useful.
Either that or Roblox could create a Q/A team to test these events prior.
Thank you for sharing your report about the main hub that has received significant engagement! Just to clarify, I support these issues being reported on the forum, so I want to see them be addressed. Due to CS probably receiving thousand(s) of tickets daily, I feel that they aren’t giving event feedback proper attention (based on some of the responses I’ve seen too) which wastes users’ time. I feel that an event category isn’t a lot to ask for. I know that these events last for a short period of time, but feedback on aspects like event structure could still be posted. I don’t understand why the events team wouldn’t want to monitor valuable feedback in smaller quantities on the forum (23 reports are significant). It doesn’t make sense to let users report these issues in various forum categories when they’re not guaranteed to be addressed. In general, this is disrespectful towards the reporter and devalues their report. This just seems like a missed opportunity and a messy and lazy solution when you’re aware there’s demand for a feature. I hope they reconsider adding the forum as another avenue for feedback.
