Forgive my ignorance but I couldn’t find any other way to reply to a comment made for this comment.
50R$ is hardly a high fee, and I’m personally surprised by how low it is - far too low to prevent a tidal wave of botting and stolen clothing. Personally, I think 100R$ would’ve been a far better compromise, having it MAYBE placed at 50R$ for Premium users.
50 Robux per clothing really limits the gain for small clothing designers maybe even medium ones. Unless they work for a group their gain from designing will be quite low, not worth their effort or they may be will even be at a loss which means that many designers will quit. About the bots, I don’t really think this will do any big difference, what is done is done. And 50 Robux is a quite high fee. Uploading 100 clothing will cost you 10k Robux which is a no cheap price, If I’m wrong feel free to correct me.
Most roblox players have little to no revenue in robux and rely on their premium to upload shirts as long as they’re under that subscription.
Now yes, you don’t need premium to upload, but you need robux to do so, and 50 for one shirt might not sound like a lot, but as it accumulates, especially for groups, it can end up as a significant sum of money for the common player.
The fact that the fee is so limiting makes premium entirely worthless and unprofitable: where you could upload, for approx 5 dollars/euros, an unlimited amount of shirts and pants AS LONG as you had the subscription, now if you have premium, say with the same price, you can only upload 9 assets: see how unprofitable it is?
This system probably did not mean to limit the freedom of most people, but it’s price being 50 robux is hardly affordable for 90% of players; it’s meant to deter asset spammers from doing so but as it turns out it will just end up harming the average playerbase.
The price should be reconsidered to be at 5 or at a maximum of 10 robux.
It’s only viable for large clothing groups who are already loaded with robux. 50 robux is a steep price to pay for small and upcoming groups. Many don’t even make that much in a week.
Just to make back the money they burnt to even upload the clothes, groups are going to have to hike up their prices, which brings yet another problem. Who’s going to want to pay 25-100 robux for new clothing from smaller groups when all of the bigger and older groups have their stuff up for the lowest prices possible?
This whole update discourages newcomers from entering the fashion scene, and is overall so bad that the playing field was ironically more competitive with the bots reigning free. This is roblox’s worst update in years, and it feels like we’re being bombed back into the stone age. To claim their post is “whining” shows a very poor grasp at the gravity of the situation at hand.
Regardless of what many clothing designers are saying this is a much needed improvement to the catalog system. Gone are the days of asking someone with premium to upload clothes. The number of groups owners who don’t have premium but need to upload clothes surpasses the number of clothing designers. High quality designers will have little trouble with a fee as long as their sales exceed it. Those starting out can simply sell clothes on a commission basis as it is with any other field of development.
As many people have said before, this won’t solve the bot problem. There are plenty of bots still out there with more than enough money to spam the catalog again as soon as they adapt.
So we all know the new uploading fee that is coming. I feel like it’s unfair to have the fee. You see here that small designers they might not have the robux for it and they have to buy robux or buy Premium. In a roblox designers group this is what luisa1111 said about it:

Instead they should do what they’re doing with UGC so if you want your clothes on the roblox catalog you need to be part of the Designer crew which you would achieve the same way you would become a UGC artist on roblox. Of course you can still upload clothing it just wont show up on the roblox catalog.

So for me, this is not a great update as they said it’s having ROBLOX of getting more money. As a person that knows some small designers this update is not a very good one.
I can see both sides of this, I get why your doing it but most clothes are only 5R$ and most small clothing designers don’t make much (sometimes nothing) off making clothes. This probably means that all clothing prices are going to go up.
I do see the benefits as well but I mean 50R$ to upload one thing just seems outrageous. I get the good side of it because you wont have to pay a monthly subscription to make clothes.
I don’t think this is a good idea but this is just my opinion.
Roblox is an game. Not real life.
Why would someone pay to sell their clothing?
Real life = Spend money to get shirts you can sell
Roblox = Spend money so you can sell shirts that took your time to make so you can actually make some money.

This specifically states 2D clothing, This means 3D layered clothing will come soon. Maybe this will try and stop people from uploading normal clothes and upload 3D instead for when it comes out @brees_lovely @BananaCZSweSaim
I truly believe that this is a terrible update. It will actually make the spammed clothing WORSE because now EVERYONE has access to designing clothing, all they need is 100 robux, which is like a dollar compared to minimum price of premium, which is 5 dollars. Some devs might look at this as a good update, but all experienced clothing designers know this is a bad update. A lot of small designing groups will now be crushed not being able to afford the fees. On top of that, there will be NO use for premium, except for trading. That’s it. ROBLOX will lose a lot of it’s premium members from this, as well as the spark of innovation for newer designers will die out. There are already so many clothing designers that are resigning from groups because of this fee. It’s ridiculous.
This update is pretty bad, and basically puts the end to clothing designs.
You guys are making it harder for the actual PLAYERS, than the bots. People are gonna spend more on the selling fee than what they’re actually gonna earn!
Instead of fixing the problem at its source, (Example: making better moderation!) you’re making it more difficult for the actual players…
This probably won’t even solve the bot issue since the bots have enough Robux to bypass the selling fee.
And then on top of that: ROBLOX is still keeping the 30% of the revenue you make!
The only positive of this update is not having to have Premium to upload the items… but that just ruins the whole value of Premium… so…
Oh, and let’s also go through the process now of creating clothing:
Take a long time and effort to create the clothing piece, which can take 20 mins to a few hours.
Upload the clothing for a “small” fee, (and that’s even if you have that much Robux.)
After you spend all that Robux, you don’t even get enough sales to just get that Robux back from the selling fee (and we’re not even talking about any profit right now. This is just about earning the selling fee back.)
After all that hard work, and having to pay that fee, you have less Robux than you originally started with!
At first this seemed like a good idea to me. However after thinking more about it, it has a few disadvantages that doesn’t necessarily cover the goal this new feature is intended for, being to stop copied clothing. Personally I am more fan of the idea to just work with a privated template or some form of striking clothes down with some kind of voting system. At the other hand, if feedback won’t be taken into consideration than this feature will likely result in an increase of sell price in the clothing industry making it harder for non-earning players to buy clothing.
There will be no competition for the bots so they actually spend less, normally a bot needs around 5k robux to end up on the top of the clothing catalog but now there is practically no people designing, so no one is making new clothing that gets a lot of sales so then the bots can spend less for there items to get onto the front catalog.
Well the platforms that DO charge that don’t have the unreasonable taxes and devex rates. To add insult to injury, they made this update which costs money to upload things.
The thing people aren’t getting is that roblox isn’t doing this to stop bots. They are doing this for more money. There are WAY better ways to get rid of bots but roblox decides to use the way which will actually aid them, but make roblox money in the proccess.
