Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

Botters already have premium. I don’t think they have anything to risk.

Botters also already have heaps of robux to work with; completely mitigating this update.

This would only let you upload 4-22 shirts depending on your plan. Paying a dollar to upload a shirt without being sure if it’ll even do well isn’t really something I’d look forward to.

Not really, if you were to pay the Premium amount in robux form (like buying $4.99 worth of Robux instead of Premium), you would only be able to upload 4 pieces of clothing. If you got Premium, you can upload an unlimited amount for a whole month. Yes, I can see how it would be helpful for those that are already developers and have a steady source of robux income so they don’t have to pay real money, but it really hurts those that are just doing clothing design for fun or are just starting off with a clothing group.

Yes, I know that this exists for any developer which includes graphic designers and clothing designers (don’t know why you said graphic designers though and tried to exclude graphic + clothing designers from other developers). But, you don’t need to pay money to build or script (unless you want to spend extra money on courses or programs, but that’s optional not mandatory). So why should you be forced to do so for clothing?

The point of my comment was that if you want to share your work and build a reputation outside of Roblox like you said, you need the work first. So you’d need to pay like 500-1000R$ just to show people and make sure they know who you are.

Oh dude this sounds great as an update to Roblox this will completely lower the rate of people spamming shirts in the catalog

I don’t know where exactly you are but 100 robux is over $1 USD and can’t be bought on its own so you would need to buy the 400 robux option for $4.99.

Its a Nice start to stop clothes abuse but the question is: How much?

I say this because most people put their clothes on 5 robux. So because of this situation; put an accessible price to remedy the robux paid in uploading the clothes.

As long as we can get a better way to “clean up” copied items and find asset stealers and block them from posting to the catalogue, this seems like a very good change.

Great news :

They began to remove botted items such as ‘ADIDAS ADIDAS ADIDAS ADIDAS’ and ‘SHIRT SHIRT SHIRT SHIRT’

Oh ok thanks for explaining that

Zero chance of that happening. 2D clothing being boring is highly subjective, so that wouldn’t be a factor. Besides, completely throwing out 2D clothing would be throwing aside an entire market. Not every 2D clothing artist can just swap over to 3D art as if it’s the same thing. They’re two entirely different mediums with their own skill sets.

I can’t wait to upload clothes! One thing, however, is that people may stop buying Premium. A large reason that Premium was important was that it allowed you to make clothing. Anyway, this is pretty cool from my point of view. I don’t know how clothing designers feel about this.

This is a ridiculous update. This only benefits the big developers - who have robux unlike others. Many small developers now have to worry about upload fees + advertisement pricing (may vary in some cases) in order to promote their clothing.

Many developers only buy premium to upload clothing, this will remove many premium subscriptions in my opinion. If you are to add a fee to uploads, I believe you should decrease the tax placed on each purchase.

Decrease the tax from 30% to 15 - 20%. This allows developers to gain more profits and upload more.

At first I thought this update was good, but if what people are saying is correct and the fee is 100 robux, this is ridiculous. How are new clothing designers supposed to get started or even learn how to create clothing? Without a large investment (which isn’t going to be available from most of the platform, since it is targeted for kids) no one is going to be able to sell anything or get started making money. I know bots are an issue, but there are much, much better ways of dealing with that without infringing upon new designers near as much.

In some respects, that is an argument. But you do realise some clothing designers do change this virtual platform into their life’s work. Some change it into a side profit. Companies like Kestrel over the years have made a good amount of USD to be considered somewhat of an income.

This is why when you do clothing design, you don’t just do it for robux. Most people don’t anyway. It eventually builds up into gaining small amounts of USD every so often. This, my friend, is why we should spearhead it as a somewhat ‘real-life’ operation.

So with this fee, can you please take off the 30 percent taken away then?

Unfortunately, my friend, this may be one route, but not the only one, for Roblox to take to ensure we can, as the saying goes, ‘wipe the slate clean and start over’. Though Roblox could utilize their moderation facilities and look for keypoints in the player that has uploaded a clothing item:

  • How old was their account at the time of uploading the shirt/pants/t-shirt? For example, above or below 100 days?
  • What did they name the clothing item? Did they name it ‘SHIRT SHIRT SHIRT’ as a scam bot, or ‘SHIRT SHIRT SHIRT’ as an attempt to gain quick clicks with a stolen template on a legitimate account?

I again impose more features Roblox should add to ensure bots have a hard time uploading to the catalog:

  • Filter out certain terms and sentences such as ‘SHIRT SHIRT SHIRT’ or ‘PANTS PANTS PANTS’.
  • Allow a character limit of 10-15 on the name of the clothing item, to avoid long names. This also naturally appeals to the consumer as they don’t have to read a long name. Short, punchy, and to the point.
