Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

Additionally, someone can make an alternative account, join a group that has botted clothing, can get paid out robux from the stolen funds from the designers work, and upload more stolen clothing. It’s definitely not going to solve the main botting and copying issues we face today.

I’m happy to see the clothing market’s issues being tackled, but this isn’t the best way it could have gone. Having to pay to upload what used to be free (with premium) was great for me since I would not have to worry if the item would not sell. Was it not possible to just disallow the viewing of the template uploaded?

Additionally, this would not necessarily solve the issue as many profit heavily from reuploads. This would also discourage new designers from uploading as not everyone has plenty of robux to spare.

I meant that just keeping it the same would have been good becuase 1k robux just for 10 shirts? Dosen’t seem like all devs can do that.

Will the ones having premium need to pay for uploading too?
The pre existing owners of premium should be able to upload as they were able to

I don’t believe it would cost 100 robux due to the backclash it got last time I would say 10 robux is a good amount

Oh please. Developers having to pay a fee to upload a model or a game or a script would ensue CHAOS on this site. Or if the frontpage was just as poorly executed in the way the clothing page is. Spending money to make money is valid, but designers hardly ever have the resources that devs have to make the difference worthwhile.

That would legit make this update useless.

I agree, but having to upload a shirt for 100 robux each is just ridiculous. The system should have been like UGC in the first place. Only the verified clothing designers should be able to upload clothes. This way we can not only prevent scams, but duplication of clothings and more. Verification process should be easier than UGC though, since there are a lot of creative clothing designers that don’t receive the attention they deserve.

This would absolutely destroy admins with requests to be a ‘verified clothing creator’.

Surely the bots will do their part.

i don’t see how 10 robux fee would work

Most clothing designers make R$ out of commissions, so there shouldn’t be too much problem. Also, clothing designers are pretty talented people and can easily go to the GFX and UI world

That is a problem. Where do the funds for commissions come from? Sales of clothing or actually buyng robux, which can’t be sent to the group without paying the fee to begin with.

I’m not sure how to feel about this. This helps greatly with spam copies of clothing being made however,
I enjoy making clothes just for myself to wear with no malicious intent so it sucks ill have to pay robux for something only I will wear

Can you maybe clarify? Do you want it to be less or more since I think that 10 Robux is a decent price for uploading clothing

I can’t speak for all clothing designers, but I’ve found that there is an entirely different artistic skillset required for GFX and UI. I’m a good designer so I’ve been told, and have been mildly successful doing commissions, but I would not give a dime for the GFX that I am able to make and my attempts at UI has never turned out well.

If this is trying to get rid of the clothing bots, it won’t work. They have earned more then enough robux to continue botting.

Also, why even make this update? A lot of clothing designers are going to get lack of motivation. My friend owns a clothing group and gets 200-300 robux every 2-3 months.

How are small designers/small clothing groups going to even pay for the clothes if they dont make enough?

Thanks Roblox for ruining the catalog
AGAIN

I don’t think this is a good fix to the problem. It hurts legit clothes designers and botted clothes makers can most likely still make a huge profit. My idea (probably not realistic) is to take every item offsale to start fresh and create a new AI that knows once something has been uploaded, no other user can upload the same thing again. (Just an idea) Also improve search engine so spamming keywords doesn’t help improve your position in results. Almost never do I see a real original shirt through searching. This is a problem

I agree but I beg to differ.

Art careers are like a food chain and it makes this counterproductive, some will make it, yes, but others who have a lack of time, experience or don’t own solid business practices will sink slowly, it is just turning the catalog into something convoluted, and as much as I’d like to suggest certified designers it’d cause a huge wall between new designers and experienced ones, turning this area of user generated content into a large scale issue brimmed with toxicity.

Thank goodness I won’t have to see this anymore
