Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

Appalled? Appalled at facts? Why? Premium gives you 450 Robux a month and it’s only like $5 a month. If you already had Premium before this update, you can keep it and still upload some clothes.

Chill. Sure you might lose some money when you’re starting off and you’re still a small clothing designer, but in the long run you can make profit.

Okay let’s compare prices.
Premium w the ability to upload multiple clothes: $5/month
After this update released: each clothes to be 50R($0.61)per upload

Imagine you upload like 60 clothes every month before the update
That would still be $5 right?

But after the update, 60 clothes would be (60x0.61= $36.6)
Thats like a HUGE price gap yaknow?
This costs 7x as much as premium before the update. Obviously not everyone are willing to lose $36.6 just for this. It’s very clear that you would earn the same amount and the profit is just too…you wont even earn any profit. And who would want to waste $36.60 down the drain just to get nothing back lol tbh i’d rather spend those money on something else I won’t be able to recoup my losses from this

Yeah and that means you can only upload 9 pieces of clothing a month vs. the normal unlimited number. Good luck turning a profit when you have to pay much more than what you’re going to get back. With the bare minimum price, you’re only going to make probably 2 robux per sale.

On top of this, you’re still not guaranteed sales even with the slightly cleaner (for now) catalog. This doesn’t even take into account the fact that rich bots out there will eventually find a way to circumvent the paywall and render this update meaningless.

450 robux just to upload 9 clothes? No thanks. I won’t be able to earn any profit out of it. And I’m speaking for some of the small clothing designers too.

Yeah I said I don’t think it’ll stop botting. But you can do commissions to earn money to upload more clothes and become a bigger designer who gets lots of sales.

Being a bigger designer does not always mean getting a lot of sales, and with this update that may NEVER happen for some. It requires funds to run ads, pay designers, and now an upload fee. We already know the botting is inevitable. Roblox isn’t making any sense by putting this fee on us. Why make us pay the price in the end? It doesn’t matter how small some think the fee is, we DESIGNERS are the ones that will ultimately pay for this in the end. You make this sound like it’s so easy, and it’s not. Just an FYI, many of those “bigger designers” already had a lot of funds BEFORE this change even came about. There are better ways to deal with the botting issue than slapping a fee on us.

To be honest, I totally agree. It’s just I don’t know what.

I don’t either, and Roblox isn’t going to listen to us anyway, sadly.

Phone number verification maybe? But make it so you can’t have one phone number linked to more than 1 account. Email verification like this would not be effective, as you can easily make another email.

The thing is not everyone has a phone (younger designers,) however they could possibly use one of their parents’ phone number, however some parents may not trust Roblox with that information which is understandable.

I do agree with the phone number verification but there are many apps available where people can get “fake” numbers. I’m not sure that would even work. I know this would not sit right with most Roblox players, but why not implement a small fee to join Roblox. I mean it couldn’t be any worse than what Roblox is doing to us right now. This definitely isn’t powering my imagination.

Roblox would probably lose money from that in the long run. Would I have to pay tons of money for all my alts if that was implemented? Also bots could just pay the fee, rich ones that DevExed.

There has been many great ideas put out there that could possibly slow the botting, but at this point I don’t know if there is a right way to fix it. It seems like Roblox just doesn’t care about anyone but themselves.

I have to agree. Many designers who are not as known will struggle, and how will they get the robux to pay these fees when they may not make enough to do so? Some people do not want to spend real money on robux.

I genuinely hate this update and it just shows that Roblox does not care what the community thinks as long as they gain money from it. How will small designers ever get big? They can’t, there’s an even slimmer chance now. I’ve made clothes here and there myself, but with this update I see no point. And what if you make a mistake on your clothes that you only see after uploading?

In my opinion, the cons far outweigh the pros, but that’s just me.

I have a fairly large group, and I am struggling as it is. I don’t have enough designers, I can’t get my store finished, I have already spent over 600K bux for ads alone, and most of that came out of my own pocket. God knows I will never make enough to cover what I have spent. Now this fee? I can’t begin to imagine what the smaller designers are thinking right now. Roblox has changed drastically, and not for the better. I just can’t help but to think this fee is just the beginning of a much larger alternate motive.

Exactly. When even larger clothing groups can’t afford it, you know Roblox has really screwed this up. It’s clear they’re doing it for money, and definitely not for the benefit of the clothing community as they say.

Working hard is not equal to success.
I would like to say many designers work extremely hard but don’t even come 1 step closer to their goal.

Easier said than done.

I respect the opinion, but you’re not factoring in that there are a ton of users who steal clothing on the site and earn more from it than the original creator.

Taking the original hard work, and selling it for there own. So no, hard work ~= success, especially on this site in the current state it’s in.
