Yeah I know not everyone is wealthy enough to buy Premium and I understand that, however before this feature even came into place you needed Premium to upload clothing.
I get that Premium may be expensive for many people, and I understand that.

Yeah but thatâs monthly so meaning they can only can either upload 4 shirts 10 shirt or 22 shirts a month but the thing is most people are either going to have the 1000 and 400 Robux Premium package but then people might spend it on something else rather than publishing clothing. Also, People might not be able to afford it every month.
Letâs say weâre looking at it from a small designerâs perspective.
They can barely afford robux and premium. They create a bunch of outfits ready to upload, but then this update comes up. They have to waste effort (if they made it), robux (to upload and/or hire designers, pay for ads, etc.
Clearly, simply having premium doesnât solve all problems. 22 shirts a month may also not be enough, considering the likely chances of moderated clothing, etc. 22 shirts is if they pay for the more expensive premium memberships, so buying the 5$ membership would equal to less than 10 shirts.
Average clothing groups upload way more than 10 pieces a month
True, But then again if you had saved tons of Robux before the update came out but they didnât have premium they would have been quite happy due to the fact that they couldnât afford premium so for example they had 150 Robux saved they spend 100 publishing and putting the shirt on sale meaning that if Roblox allowed us to create shirts without premium or Robux but just the fee of 50 Robux to put on sale would Possibly overall stop the Botting problem because there isnât things like 50 Robux packages so this would stop the problem but if Roblox made a say 200 Robux package this would also hugely impact the community due to the fact that people can upload 2 shirts but if Roblox deleted the upload fee then it would make it so small clothing designers would be able to upload 4 shirts but for 2 dollars is quite good.
May I ask how small designers can save so much robux for the update? Itâs not so simple to make a few hundred robux (Based from experience)
Well say they saved 200 robux to them its a ton and like if that was good then say that they wanted to do what they want to do like make a successful clothing brand then if could become successful and then from them 2 shirts if they made enough then this would mean that they could make more robux as long as they just get noticed and people buy their shirts.
F to the people who upload clothing that they like for fun. I guess now itâs cheaper to just buy something off the catalog.
Great way to discourage new clothing designers, as well as kill the ones who arenât already big.
While weâre at it, why donât we start charging R$200 to publish a game in order to combat game spam?
I also develop. The difference is you can make and upload a game without spending anything at all. You can theoretically make a successful game without having to pay anything. With this clothing update, if you havenât already invested money into even trying out creating clothes for the first time, you have no chance.
Edit: And to clarify, I understand that Premium was required previously, and that also costs money. But now, this is R$100 for shirt and pants every single time you want to try something new. Way more expensive and daunting in the long run.
Whenever Roblox introduces a radical change like this there is always backlash, but eventually people stop complaining because they realize the future positive consequences of the companyâs decision.
âBots are probably already loaded with money and can continue bottingâ
In the short term, yes, bots can keep copying and spamming shirts. However, they will start to lose massive amounts of robux due to the fee. If their clothing gets taken down before they can make their money back, what is the whole point of botting clothes anymore? Botting will never be as profitable as it used to be, and therefore bots will disappear.
âHow are you supposed to know the original owner of botted clothing?â
With enough research, you can find the oldest publisher of a botted shirt and simply delete the ones newer than that shirt. Eventually, the original ownerâs shirt will rise to the top and the bots will lose all of their revenue - further purging them from the site. The amount of bots being banned or quitting from the site will soon exceed the bots entering the marketplace.
âClothing hurts smaller clothing designersâ
The higher fee will decrease the quantity of clothing put into the market, and therefore increase the quality of clothing. Therefore, in the future we will expect much more creativity in the clothing market since competition is much higher and people are pushed much harder to create higher quality clothing to make a profit.
~~
If you are a small clothing designer who is worried, this is what you need to do. Instead of spamming clothing designs that are pretty much the same as other clothes in the market, think of a unique design that nobody has done before, or a design that can be improved upon, and put that on sale. This will increase your chances of getting your clothing noticed. Depending on the price of your shirt, it only takes a handful of people to buy your clothing to make your robux back. Once you get that process going, rinse and repeat. I would really like to see more unique clothing designs in the catalog.
Yes but now that the update is out it is 100 robux.
Then what is premium even needed for now?
Itâs 50, as the admin said.
for TShirts itâs 50 when you make them on sale, and on Shirts itâs 50 when you upload them but not when you put them on sale
Itâs not.
I understand that it is not needed to upload clothes on Roblox but this update takes away one of the biggest reasons why most people buy premium. Now I honestly see no point in having premium anymore.
It doesnât matter what you do, how innovative you are, if the search, discovery, and even WITH the searching optimization it isnât the best right now either, your clothing will still be buried under ALOT of other clothing. This hurts small clothing desingers, it doesnât matter, not everyone has 50 robux PER clothing to release to the catalog, I had the worst of my clothing (Iâm not a good designer, I did that for fun) the worst clothing that I ever made got like a lot of sales just because of the name, because it was searched alot, but also wasnât botted, and I got some sales, but I have so many other better clothing, that I just canât seem to find myself being able to share, and itâs sad. It doesnât matter how good, and how well, or whatever you make your clothing, the only way for people to find your clothing is groups, if you have a group for that. Which is also bad discovery, if you wanted to make your clothing group notable, and big, you need to do HEAVY amounts of adversiting. Please DONâT talk in behalf of small clothing designers. Youâre the end customer, and to you it could improve a bit, for this specific update, not counting the search thing, but for clothing designers, itâs devasting. IT REALLY IS.
Most people, especially from other countries, donât buy ROBUX. and / or donât profit. I donât buy robux frequently, it took begging my mom to allow me to buy it for like 2 years on the platform, and once I did, It wasnât much. like 400, you can only make like 8 pieces of clothing? Thatâs what a lot of clothing designers upload in some hours, and now it costs 5 dollars to do so? You have to pay to workâŚ? Isnât a good thing right?
I agree but I also think premium was already kind of abandoned and this just discourages premium-buying, which is not that bad, that means theyâre giving normal users more chances, premium might as well either have a huge improvement, which I think is what will happen because thereâs still Premium Payouts, but right now, is a weird place to OWN premium. Definelity is.
While that is true, the âdissapearingâ of bots, wonât come with this update. It will come with search being âfixedâ and further-more. This update WAS 100% bad. The search thing? Wow. They shouldâve done that before this update. And it makes me mad that they didnât, I feel like they only did that as a way to say and make people think this update was good, when it wasnât. They didnât even make a post about it.
The biggest issue I have with this update is how it was much cheaper to just get premium and upload clothes. Now it is going to be much more expensive to upload clothing for an online virtual game.
After thinking about this for a while, I think it would be better to provide premium users with a set amount of free uploads/month.
For example, if it was 30/month, they could upload 30 clothes for free and anything after that, they would be required to pay the fee.
I think your final point is one of the most common misconceptions about this update. Creative clothes donât make profits. Detailed clothes donât make profits. Menâs clothes donât make profits. Soft, grunge, various aesthetic clothes for girls make profit. Itâs harder to make a profit on high detailed clothes than simple aesthetic clothes. Thatâs because âaestheticâ clothes are extremely popular. This no longer is an âupload for funâ thing, you have to make your robux back. To make those robux back and hopefully a profit, youâre gonna make what sells. Thatâs why even big designers have announced not doing menâs clothes anymore, for example. Itâs not worth it for the enjoyment because itâs costing us funds we probably wonât make back.
Such a horrible idea, many designers that make clothing for groups now canât because of this stupid idea, many small groups and designers cant even afford It, I believe premium was enough and them adding such a stupid update, is now making roblox into real life!
95% of the time designers work off of reference images (of real life clothing) found on Pinterest, Instagram, online clothing stores, etc. More often than not weâre not actually thinking up our own designs. Itâs common for multiple designers to, by coincidence, create an outfit from the exact same reference image, resulting in similar clothing.
This does NOT mean weâre lazy! Most designers (myself included) just want to make clothing that weâd want to wear in real life. Think of it as online shopping, except instead of buying the clothes we recreate them for our Roblox avatars.
This does NOT mean weâre not unique! Every designer has their own unique style. Two people could choose to work off of the same reference but the results would still be drastically different. Differently shaped outlines, different shading techniques, one might choose to add additional accessories, one might choose to make the design in a different color.
This is so true. I donât know for the life of me why people just assume that if the catalog is cleared up, everything will be better. It will not and that is the ignorance of these people. Oml
