Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

I personally hate this update quite a lot. I have the same opinion as the many designers on this forum post. I think the idea is quite stupid and as ruined a lot of opportunities for a lot of people and small clothing companies.

I’ve gather some opinions of my comrades and they’ve all relatively said the same thing.

Bluesarentk00l: "It’d be harder for Military/Milsim Communities to upload clothing. If you’re going for realism within a community notice that every piece of clothing is different. You have Badges, Medals, Rank Tabs, Nametapes, Unit Patches, a bunch of stuff that pushes for that little extra amount of realism. "

HypocriticalSmug: “This is dumb, Why did they do this? I want to go back, Why is it so hard now”

Superja2006: “haha you’re poor go upload your own customs now!!! noobie”

I’d like to mention the military community had several military based clothing group’s on the brink of shutting down.

This is not the best idea, but it sort of works. The bad thing is: clothing prices have skyrocketed and the good new is: FINALLY the clothing copy and paste is gone.

Im kind of mixed with this. It did solve a problem, but it also created a problem.

I dislike this idea greatly. Many small clothing designer will be unable to upload, since they don’t make much robux, and cannot afford to pay every time they upload. However, bots already have masses of robux, and they can afford this paywall. This update is going to do more damage than good.

Other clothing designers will have to raise their prices higher so they can make more robux, since they need to pay this fee. Many clothing designers, like avaeta, are raising their prices higher.

According to the developers…

The botted clothing is still going to be in the pages, and it states it will not fix the botted clothing that is already in the stores, so it won’t help much, either way.

As a pretty small clothing designer, I have to say I’m very disappointed in this update. With this update, we can barely upload anything, as a frequent uploader as well.

Bigger clothing groups will take over, since they have many funds, and most small clothing designers will QUIT, making it hard to find newer clothes.

With this fee, it is limiting what designers can do, especially clothing designers who have a lot of potential. They would never be able to show their work in roblox, which is terrible for so many people.

I hope roblox realizes that this is limiting so many people, and hurting so many small designers.

At this point we know the fee is inevitable, and Roblox isn’t listening to anything we have to say. I guess if it comes down to it maybe the designers affected the most can work for, or with other designers to possibly make the extra funds needed to keep their own groups above water. Just an idea. I hate to see so many talented designers fail over another one of Roblox’s genius ideas.

Wonderful. With this implementation, Roblox have come up with a minimal solution to counter users who are freely stealing other users work/content without any loss. To those whom are spouting nonsense like “You’re killing the clothing industry” and what not, no, look around you it just got better. Roblox has always been trying to push for the benefits of it’s players such as UCI. Now with this system, designers are forced to be creative and competitive. It’s a benefit to clothing businesses throughout Roblox. New designers are forced to work with a company unless they can pay off the installed fees. It’s a collective benefit and I’m proud of this update.

dude are you serious! talking like you actually read any of our feedback if you bothered opening your eyes our feedback says “no”.

but hey ho this is just more feedback that you wont read.

this new update wont fix any problems only create more with the new limited amount of higher quality clothing this will produce it’ll be worth it for bots to continue to upload clothing with their new competition of no-one.

clearly you dont know what your talking about.

not minimal, LAZY* this will fix nothing if anything it will make it worse people and heres why, the new clothes that will be uploaded will be of a higher quality making it worthwhile for bots to steal so the problem will continue, nothing but template data encryption will save people from getting their work stolen.

nonsense like “You’re killing the clothing industry”
im a small clothing designer and out of the 8+ pages of clothing ive uploaded ive made merely 300 robux. do the math that will be well over 5k worth of uploads and no where near turning over a profit
this will undoubtably break the bank for me and so many designers like me

says who? ive never worked with a company and ive many friends that just started their own clothing groups.

so heres a little tip for you, if your gonna say sumn, know your what your talking about.

So what’s the point in purchasing Roblox premium anymore? Y’all are just continuing to limit membership exclusive features which is digging your own selves a deeper hole, doesn’t make much sense. Is your master plan to say goodbye to essentially all of your hard-working clothing designers?

At this point, it feels Roblox doesn’t care about its community and reputation it has built and more rather earning money. Roblox is one of the most profiting companies, it taxes nearly everything creators create; and on top of that it lets its staff “uniquely” destroy the platform.

They want to give us “updates” and lower the fee as if it helps. I understand the whole point of eliminating bad designer, but that is what clothing groups as for: such as Eyriest, Vivid, Tiger, $LITTIN, and more. They help us define original work. If you don’t like aesthetic clothing, there is Tiger and alongside Tiger; other thousands of tiny groups that have hopes of becoming successful; find those groups to buy from and help benefit them, its the “give some and earn some” concept.

No matter what we say, it is pointless to even provide our point and reasoning at this point anymore. I’m a firm believer you have basically just eliminated all our premium benefits other than trading and the (now pointless) monthly payout which we can just buy monthly now seeing that our benefits are gone.

Instead of making it the Devleoper Forum, you post your opinions and take no criticism. I say this mainly because almost 2000 have given their input (and a majority of them don’t want this tax). And I’m very sadden to see how Roblox has destroyed its community and reputation by imposting this tax against its community. And I do agree, they are getting rid of their 75% honest designers, groups like Parallels are still growing; this could effect their development too. Roblox doesn’t take our opinions into consideration unless they are practically forced to by mainstream YouTubers.

If you are so desperately wanting to make clothing but don’t have premium, you should have to pay the fee and they should make premium members not have to pay the fee AND ON TOP of that give us 80-85% of our earnings.

I will be saddened to see Roblox destroyed because of them not checking their staff who are practically free to make their own edits or changes to Roblox whenever they’d like assumingely.

If they’re focused on earning more money then why have they been removing features of premium?

Hmmm yes roblox did an excellent job at solving mass copying. Definitely not a pointlessly cruel update.

i think they could make clothes not appear on the search if they have an emoji at start or the end of the name. bots really use it. Also they have to make overpriced clothes not appear too.

So premium has no value anymore?
I thought that was the only reason why people bought premuim.

Premium still has Trading, Selling Limiteds and “Free” monthly robux
If you get the money from Monthly Robux you can spend it on making shirts (i’m not saying its good, i’m just saying some stuff that you can do with Premium)

So pretty much a feature that is used mostly by people who have limited’s, again selling limited items most other players can’t afford. Free monthly robux? Could buy a card if you wanted to. At this point the only use I see is making money from your games, and maybe clothing.

Nice. Now people are hiking up prices to ridiculous levels just like I predicted. Imagine paying 25 robux for a pair of pants.

To be fair thats better than what it was. Theres actually more than 4 shirts on one page.

One week later and no one at roblox HQ has heard the blaring alarms warning about the cataclysmic update they dropped.

Waiting for Roblox HQ to do something about the clothing Bots :sleepy:

Most idiotic update I’ve ever seen. I’ve monitored the avatar shop for the past few days and I have seen ALMOST NO CHANGE at all. This is ridiculous because you are putting the stress on all of the clothing designers while the clothing copiers still upload like crazy.
