Adding to my previous comment, I’ve seen many clothing designers and all of them have quit. Thanks a LOT for this update, and to the people who support the update, look here.
The bots are adapting. Just like I predicted.
That is a problem but keep in mind, who would want a deepfried shirt? If someone would go out of his way to trick the system he will have an hard time keeping the shirt usable.
Also if hue is a concern, we can render the image as black and white so color corrections will literally have no effect on the system.
Surely there are more ways to trick it but if anyone finds a way to exploit them will be soon catched and the exploit will be patched. Also machine learning may come in favor of us, alongside verifying some people once they sell X shirts so they can avoid beign checked and it gets faster obviously if there are abuses this privilege will be revoked.
This update has its own pro’s and con’s, but sadly has more cons than it does have pros. It may fix the botting issue, yes. People without premium can upload clothes too which is something I’ve always wanted to see! But, I mean, most designers start off small with a tiny budget. With this exaggerated fee to upload their creations, it would be roughly 100 R$ per outfit. Just imagine, small designers working on seasonal sets and paying about 500 R$, and only get 25-100 in return from sales? That would result in thousands of designers quitting because of the lack of profit. Plus, I’m pretty sure bots have already earned millions from selling their stolen assets prior to this update. Come on Roblox, you can do better!
I have a question.
If you upload clothing without having premium, will it go off-sale eventually or is it a one-time fee to upload it and keep it up?
I don’t want to keep spending ROBUX just to keep a single piece of clothing on-sale. 100 ROBUX just to upload is pretty ridiculous as it is.
I doubt they thought to change the system. You most likely have to upload it to a group to keep it on sale indefinitely.
Good news for you, there a way to test your clothing without needing to upload it on roblox. You only need to put the shirt (or pants) template into the Roblox\Versions\(roblox version)\content\textures file directory and then use “rbxasset://textures/shirt.png” (change the “shirt.png” into the name of the shirt file) on the ShirtTemplate property like that and the shirt should load. You can access the current roblox version directory by right clicking the studio launcher shortcut and clicking on “open file location” (might be different, my laptop is using a different language) if you are on windows. I hope this will help you.
Protest, because why not, everyone else does when they are trying to be heard. Not sure how this would happen, but it’s really sad how we are being treated. I would give anything to see everyone stop making any and all purchases just for 1 single day. It would have Roblox completely shook. Let them see how we feel for a change. Just my opinion though.
This will never fix the clothing bot issue on the platform. People will just start loading clothing bot accounts with tons of robux and continue their schemes. Deploying a fee only affects one person: Those actually trying to put their clothing out there, those just starting off who don’t have the money to sustain this fee. This is pure corporate greed.
Even with the 50 robux fee added, I still see lots of botted clothing being uploaded at 5 robux, as shown in the picture below:
This implies that the fee doesn’t do much to prevent botted clothing from being uploaded and put up for sale. I would like to see Roblox implement a different solution that is much more effective such as putting a limit on how many clothes can be uploaded per day as bots almost always upload much, much more clothes than real clothing designers within a day. This will not fully resolve the problem of botted clothing, but at least it will be much better than what the current solution is now.
Let me guess, the thousands of stolen shirts and broken catalogue will remain, also I don’t make clothing but if I did I would be furious, I would essentially be paying about 0.50 USD to a company I contribute towards, next it will be 100 ROBUX per brick when you upload a model, oh and let’s just ignore the fact the toolbox is filled with minecraft trees.
Edit: You will also now be paying for your clothing to get stolen.
Clothing designers contribute so much to this platform and have got their designs stolen for years. Now they have to pay for that too… This update makes Roblox premium so much weaker than it already is. Why is this necessary?
Welcome to a George Orwell novel.
You ain’t getting a cent out of me, so enjoy being called “Big Brother” and “INGSOC”.
The Communist dream, my friend.
It may be a little extreme to liken a totalitarian dictatorship with total control of their populations minds, spirits, hearts and bodies…to requiring you to pay 20 cents to upload something to their platform.
You can’t thank the developers for their feedback if you didn’t listen to any of it, which is especially concerning because this feature could mark the end of these developers developing. The R$50 fee might not seem like a lot but many creators upload things in batches, especially those such as myself who work with uniforms, who’ll upload several variants of a shirt with several pairs of pants as part of a set, it really starts to add up.
Honestly, This update is going to drive away a lot of players from buying premium. Once this update is released, I will no longer have any interests in the little number of features I gain with premium. A massive amount of small clothing designers will be driven away as well. I think this is an awful update. I hope this update is discontinued as soon as possible because I think this is an awful idea.
With all due respect, Roblox already tried that once with the Premium Subscription and that obviously didn’t fix anything. NOR WILL THIS. All this is doing is taking more money out of designers’ pockets.
With Roblox adding this very unnecessary and unwelcomed upload fee to designers, I can just imagine what is coming next. Fee for game uploads and more taxation on clothing on top of the upload fee, among other costs. This platform is being destroyed by the hands of it’s own makers. Eventually, when we are no longer willing or able to afford these extra costs that Roblox truly believes is in our best interest, Roblox will self destruct. Waiting for it… I know everyone else notices how quickly it’s going downhill. So yeah Roblox, just throw some fees on us, in the very end your multi-billion dollar company is just going to go under. Don’t say we didn’t try to tell you so.
Being able to upload clothing for those without premium is something really great. Getting 70% of the sales without having premium is also something extremely great. However, I disagree with the price of the fee. I am not a clothing designer and I dont think I would ever upload a lots of clothing, but 50 robux to upload a shirt or pants is getting expensive. Mostly when the user upload a lots of clothing. I personally think the price to upload shirt and pants should be lowered to 20-25 robux (or anything under 50 and im fine lol). One of the thing I mostly disagree is the fee to put t-shirt on sales, I would prefer to see the price of the fee being around 10 robux. I have made low quality shirt and pants for myself and I would personally not pay 50 robux each to upload those on the website. Thank you for reading this.
