Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

If this update ends up going through, I don’t see any reason that I should continue to purchase premium. Uploading clothing without a constant fee was the only reason I continued to purchase premium each month. This update is going to be extremely negative towards many people, and I hope they remove it soon.

Unity increasingly becomes more appealing almost every other update. No need to pay to have your own assets in your game, free custom audio, free application of textures / clothes, virtually no restrictions. As more and more of the platform is locked behind paywall and restriction, is it inevitable that game-passes will become so as well? Developers are being punished for something that isn’t even in the terms of service.

It is a well intended update, but it may cause more disruption and harm than benefit. The clothing data must be sent to the client, or else they wouldn’t be able to view it in-game; there will always be a way to copy therefore. If bots were to join, you wouldn’t create a fee to make an account on roblox, you would take action against the bots who joined.

It seems there is an implied underlying motive such as to push people to the new 3d clothing market upon its release rather than bot removal, in which a lack of transparency toward this forceful and burdenous transition would be disconcerting. Perhaps it’s monetarily to appease shareholders-- the method would be in question-- but I feel confident in saying there are better alternatives such as appealing to the community. It may sound counterintuitive economically, but in the long term, I very much believe that less restriction and economic setback would bring in more developers compared to increasing the two

yeah and im not either?

i dont get your point

Yeah, but who wants to spend it on something that’s been only 5 for the longest time? It doesn’t matter how difficult it is to get, but if it’s worth spending that much.

It might be a good change but for a huge cost which is sacrifcing small creators, allowing bigger, more established creators to monopolize the clothing market more + this won’t solve botting issue for good. Bots already made hundreds of R$ + this update will actually help scammers since they wouldn’t need to worry about paying real-life money monthly.

The most funny thing is that people who aren’t affected by this update are saying it’s great and awesome!

Now imagine if Roblox charged you guys Robux to create a place and another fee to make it public. And this change is to prevent bots. How would you feel?

But you get those benefits along with robux.

Designers often make 50-100 Robux per piece on an average on a piece that doesn’t do too well

Smaller creators can even make just 5-10R$ per piece monthly. That is even worse then 50-100R$ you mentioned.

I really feel bad for all the new clothing designers. I was a new designer myself at one point, and just gonna say, its very difficult to get profits without exposure or some kind of boost.

I’ve got mixed views on this entire ordeal, since Roblox is trying to help, but not going in the right way.

This fee is not a good idea for small clothing designers whatsoever. If you barely have any money to start out with, you’re going to struggle immensely. You already get taxed for your profits as well, whether or not you have Premium. We should be focused more on the botting issue than taxes. People have already introduced a better captcha as a solution, so why not try that out first? It seems a bit arbitrary to not try out solutions given to you by the community already instead of choosing something that harms a lot of new clothing designers.

It doesn’t help Premium either, its a feature that people have been paying for, for months just for extra bonuses, including making clothing. I think a solution to the Premium however is let clothing designers upload for free without tax, and those without it will have to pay the fee. Maybe we could also just decrease the Profit tax as well, seeing at you already don’t get much for clothing.

I’m very happy Roblox hasn’t forgotten about us designers though. I’m glad they’re at least trying to help us out with the mass botting. I’ve already seen that people off bots on websites literally made for clothing stealing though, so I want to ask what you guys can do about that. If there honestly has to be a fee to stop Botting more, than at least make the fee’s cheap so people don’t struggle. I’d suggest maybe around 25 robux or so? Bot’s don’t care about fee’s because they already have tons of it, it won’t stop them. This is more for the new designers.

In general though I feel like this decision is just going to harm more than help. Happy Roblox wants to help us, but you’re going into the wrong direction.

I have a few thoughts on this update. Some positive and some negative.

Let’s start happy with positive!
Anyone who didn’t want to buy premium can now make shirts for a cheaper price, still costs…
You can now put t-shirts for sale without premium!

That’s pretty much it.

Negative
The price is alright, however for other smaller creators and children this would be quite expensive. 50 robux is quite a bit. In my opinion, it should be lowered to around 25 or 10.
Many fashion groups will get affected because now they have to pay 50 robux to put another item for sale and that’s not going to get them much profit considering most clothes getting bought are 5 robux.
I believe since 70 percent of 5 is 3.5, to get the same amount back would take around 14-15 sales when a lot of small fashion groups just only posted since they had premium. Part of the reason people cared so much about selling clothing is that they could get a decent profit.

I have a small idea for this. I believe that you should be able to copy right someone if they steal your shirt. This would be like a warning and then bans leading up to perm ban. This could also be an automatic thing depending on what you want to do.

This is why I don’t think this update is the best as it doesn’t fully stop spam botted clothing. However, the way you are improving the search is much better.
Completely my opinion.

Oh yes same, ı am so uncomfortable of this thing in the shirt section

it’s barely noticeable and if you wouldn’t know how the original looked you would’ve thought it was a normal picture

I am utterly disgusted with Roblox for what they are doing. More fees is not what designers need. Although, I am hiring designers to help my group stay alive for as long as possible. I enjoy designing, and my group is amazing so I have to try harder. The greed will not stop here I am afraid, but I am not willing to throw in the towel so easily. I will just have to make smarter choices until I find the best way to try and work around this whole mess. I know we all keep repeating ourselves like broken records, but I can’t stress how much this will affect effect us in such a negative way. Some designers have already given up. All I can do now is pray a miracle happens in our favor.

This is VERY VERY bad for clothing designers, but I’m not one. At least I don’t need premium. Clothing designers are going to raise there prices.

You are wrong. People ONLY stop complaining because it is not a HOT topic anymore. YouTubers can push news very far, but as time passes, people will simply forget about it. For media companies, this is business.

I know I said I wasn’t going to talk about this update but, I thought about this update even more and saw even more bad things about it. Just if you didn’t see my last post I will repeat those points. To make this better I am making it more organized

First I want to say my opinion on the update. It’s a horrible update that being honest brought more cons than pros.

Second I want to show why this update matches my opinion. To start it off let’s talk about the fee. From what I’ve heard you need to use 50 to upload and 50 to put on sale meaning 100 in total.

Then the outcome. Smaller clothing designers are doomed due to the fee being too expensive. Most don’t even get 50 alone on a single piece which is 1/2 as much as they need.

The main point of the update and the efficiency of it. This update came due to the Roblox catalog or avatar shop having repeated clothing (botted clothing) which was stolen from others. Although you might think “If the update has this many sacrifices to do this update it would be great at doing it’s job.” but that’s actually the opposite. Bots sell so much of their clothing (this is most likely because they use tags) meaning they have tons of robux so they aren’t doomed. Plus because small clothing designers are gone meaning bots have the small space that small clothing designers used to have on the catalog for their clothing to be for people to buy. If you didn’t understand it means bots get more sales so this update actually helps them.

Conclusion. This update’s outcome is ironic to the point where it’s useless to have it. If roblox sees this, change your mind please or this outcome will happen.

Is there are expected date to which we can expect this?

They still haven’t backtracked on this terrible update yet? Rest in peace to new clothing I guess.
