Clothing is still being botted several times a minute, this has barely made a dent (if anything, it’s increased the amount of bots per normal human solely because no human can afford this)
The catalog is still full of clones, and in a decent amount of search terms has bumped bots/stolen clothing and even outright irrelevant clothing up further
When will they admit they’re just doing this for the money? Everyone knows it, everyone can see this has done nothing but further break apart the already crumbling economy that’s barely held together by duct tape and the dreams of anyone who doesn’t know what bots are.
And don’t say “oh but they’re fixing tags and trying to get rid of the clones!” because I literally just posted 4 images above proving that not only incorrect, but that they’ve done the complete opposite, and I dare say it was on purpose.
I always wanted to try to get into designing and selling clothing, but that’s never gonna happen now, unless this awful decision that tons of people have voiced their dissent for is reverted. Oh well…
This update HAS NOT been rolled out to ALL users yet, therefore any potential effect cannot be analysed until 100% of the playerbase have the new requirements.
From what I’ve seen so far, this change seems to have reduced the number botted clothing. While it hasn’t completely eliminated the botting problem, it has at least made the catalog usable for once.
I have nothing else to say for I am not a clothing designer and nor will Roblox listen to us and continue on their cash grab. Many more decions like this and for sure Roblox will fall and become nothing. Roblox used to help people bring out their creativity for all ages for the low price of free. As I see Roblox now, a decade into the future, I see the company turning their ways into being something that has to make you pay just to get into the program, with limits. Every event is aa reminder that Roblox does not care anymore and just wants you to give up your money.
Wow, I guess I do have more to say. I do not deserve though to speak as I do not bare the hard effort that is put in to make original clothing.
I’ll be quoting all the people who don’t like this update, if Roblox ever has the guts to read their replies:
If that’s not enough for you people up there at Roblox who thought this update was good, then I guess your plan is to destroy Roblox.
The update hasn’t rolled out to everybody and not all sections have been updated. I really only see it on my device when i search specific terms (ie. black suit).
BTW how do the icons next to the prices look like the tix icon?
This idea is terrible in my opinion. The platform needs to be supporting those who want to get into skills such as clothing design, not reserving it for those with the most ROBUX, with no doubt the current clothing botters will use their earnt ROBUX to upload their stolen clothing again. Although clothing botting was a problem, users had began to find big and small groups that supplied them with the clothing they wanted and unfortunately this update will mean that many people aren’t able to get the clothes they want and the designers won’t be able to make the profits to continue making clothing.
I really hope you take this message, and many others like it into consideration before making this absurd decision,

Things to add: I have just realised this feature did get carried out, this is appalling, ROBLOX preach about being a community and talk about making stuff better for the users although as we can see here even though there has been site-wide backlash you have still carried out this update. I’m ashamed to see one of my favourite platforms fall into the trap of greed once again. ROBLOX, if you truly care about the community you will do something about this, after all the people opposing this update and getting upset about it do you STILL want to keep it?
Here is a petition for all of you to sign - Petition · For ROBLOX to change their uploading fee for designers! · Change.org. As ROBLOX isn’t sorry, I’d like to say sorry to all those thriving clothing designers who don’t have the funds to continue, maybe sometime in the near future a new platform will come out that cares about the user, and not the dosh.
I wouldn’t think it’s barely noticeable, it’s clear that the image was modified and now looks a bit like crap (except if you’re into some deepfrying mumbojumbo mania for some reason) and anyway that would work only one time, thus it can be avoided by the designer uploading a modified one to avoid some jackass trying to get around the system.
problem is, there are thousands of ways of deep-frying images, and roblox already degrades clothing image quality in game, so that’s why im saying it won’t be noticeable, especially to someone who never saw the original before
in that case, you would be alright, but still better than nothing. Would be better if any designer would get an approval like for UGC though, maybe with the same system used for the forum.
This is the most stupidest update I’ve ever seen and I’ve been playing ROBLOX since early 2014… I’m a clothing designer myself and I personally think that this is honestly the most terrible way to push back all the clothing copies. The people who copy clothes will have more of a chance to have their copied clothes shown because they’d be more powerful than ever with all their ROBUX from people actually buying their copied clothing. The small designers out there will not even have a chance to start their own clothing business due to this terrible update. This whole paragraph I wrote won’t make a change but at least I’m tearing out all the anger within me.
Although this update makes sense for bots, it is also bad in a way because when you load clothes you actually earn Robux on the one hand, so how can you load clothes and earn when you don’t have Robux? It’s a little bad but logical, I stayed neutral.
thank god this hasn’t rolled out to me yet. as a small starting clothing designer, i think this will boot me out of the clothing community. i pay more than i get paid in all and this update would be super hurtful to me.
i will give better solutions to botted clothing:
A community like UGC where you would have to apply to get in. I wouldn’t be very in favor of this either… but it certainly would look like you guys care a little more about the developers.
Maybe get rid of the option to copy the clothing picture? I don’t know what other effects this will bring, but it would be a highly effective solution
Another solution would be to set it so that accounts of only a certain age can create clothing. So like 1 or 2 weeks maybe?
i could go on but i would just like to say again that this will not be a good a good solution in the short term nor the long. i’ve been on roblox for about 5 years now and it’s always been a place i go to express myself through my builds and clothing designs. and it’s just overall a fun platform to be a part of but this update will drive a lot of people away…
I was actually looking for a decent orange suit today and all I found was botted clothing. Why doesn’t Roblox listen to us anymore?
At this point I just have nothing to say. I’m just…
