Thereā€™s not a huge amount of textures, but itā€™ll start adding up once I get back on development of it. Had a few non-Roblox projects to complete for my portfolio before I resume development.

This would come in handy as the textures already take 250 MB.

Looking forward to see what are the difference in performance from memory usage.

This would be super awesome for us as our places contain textures on a decent percentage of bricks. If we could have this enabled on 2699891546 and 3094821548 that would be fantastic!

Thank you everyone for the tremendous response and support. This feature will be available to all games once we rollout. For the time being weā€™ll reach out to select developers to be part of the experiment and might expand the pool of games if needed. Please rest assured that all games will get DXT textures once we improve the quality to acceptable levels.

They are enabled by default for all requests from Android and iOS.

Quick question. Will it still make sense for developers to compress textures using tools like tinypng? Iā€™d like to upload at full quality and have the engine handle compression (at least for mesh textures.)

We have quite a few textures in our game Field Trip Z - Roblox

My teamā€™s game would benefit from this, we have tons of images for cars and jobs

I agree with this. It would give room for the long-term improvement of a gameā€™s quality as time progresses without requiring developer intervention.

My game has 4 maps and a menu place. All of these have intense use of textures, so this would be a great place to test on

My game, SCP: Devolved uses majority textures and images for everything.

I have noticed that images are definitely heavy (at least based on microprofile) and has been something that makes game loading considerably longer than what it needs to be. I think it would be a good place to start testing on, as the next update will include a heavier amount of new hand drawn images.

Hi, Iā€™d really love to enrol my heavily texture based games into this experiment.

Hi, I donā€™t know if youā€™re still accepting games, but my roleplay uses a lot of high quality textures to attempt to keep them crisp (itā€™s all pixel art), and Iā€™d love to try this out! There is rather high memory usage due to all the assets required, and itā€™s caused some people to be unable to play.

I believe State of Anarchy would benefit greatly from this and weā€™d definitely be happy to test it out if you guys are still selecting games.
