[Update] Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio

Seems to be another lie, as Roblox just “temporarily” barred UGC audio from going public, and they never stated that it was now against the rules or anything, even though the Developer Hub article on adding sound no longer encourages use of UGC audio but instead “legal” audio from Roblox. Despite all the information they’ve given, it is still very confusing and I bet many still believe that the reason they gave is not true and that they did it to avoid financial trouble. The official reasoning behind the removal of Tickets (botting) and the forced FilteringEnabled (exploits and inappropriate behavior) were understandable, but for this change, nowhere near as much honestly.

WHEN is a “later date”, it’s been a long while since this came out and there has been zero word on when this is being enabled. :moyai:

Why are there so much reactions on this topic

Ok so this is way beyond what it should be. Original sfx uploaded March 19th reuploaded March 23rd on APRIL 14TH it is still NOT approved… come on roblox… really?

I guess we could give them some more time. Worst case scenario is that they hide that toggle (and the marketplace one) hinting that public UGC audio may never come back, but they’ve lied about things returning before.

Yeah, I can’t wait for new privacy changes and upload limits. Woohoo

if this happened realism in roblox would DIE pbr textures are already like minimum 3 decals for a single texture but then you find out that texture has some issues and it becomes 6 and so on…

Oh no! Please don’t tell me that they’re going to restrict other types of asset uploads. Because if they do. Then the platform will die!

good tbh they dont deserve to live

I agree. If they do this to other asset types people are gonna start leaving the platform and then Roblox will make them come back but I will not let that happen to other asset privacy types like for audio there should be a feature like if you go over the limit you pay in Robux. It should be the same thing like the free badges update.

As a Developer, right now it is completely hard to start developing games. I have a feeling that players are going to be mad if this happens to all other assets. Well, let’s just hope that Roblox makes audio public again so that way we can start uploading audios

Again, I don’t know when Roblox is going to make audio public again! It is likely that it might be permanent. I mean, Roblox said they were going to re-enable the ability to make audio public but I feel like that Roblox is lying. Plus many developers in this post are having problems with ROBLOX moderation.

This is still hard for me, but considering the circumstances, I totally understand. The team is doing a great job on making sfx public again as around 75% of my longer sfx are coming back and considering the size of the platform, that’s impressive, so thank you for keeping you word and for the team that is going through the audios. Also as a follow-up to my previous reply:

This new post is straightforward and contains important for the community. Thank you!

Continuing the discussion from [Update] Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio:

So with the new audio granting permission feature, I can add games/universe IDs to the list to give audio access to those games, but is it not possible to revoke audio permissions at all?

Hypothetical Situation: I granted a Rocky Mountain Airways game audio permissions for a few audios, but let’s say for whatever reason I want to revoke those audio permissions but it just doesn’t let me do so, clearly seen in this screenshot.

The audio uploads need to be at least way more than 10 (a month just to upload 10 sounds i will probably barely use) for accounts with no id verification. It has to be worth the wait and 10 sounds just isnt worth it

There basically already is (sigh, bulk upload… literally the main way I upload assets.)

I can’t believe we were given two weeks to re-upload audio. Even with the 2000 audio upload limit, it is not sustainable to re-upload every audio that you don’t own to make it to your game. Plus, 2 things could happen

  1. Developers could get moderated for audio that’s harmless
  2. Developers don’t want to re-upload their audio because their computer storage could die

I’ve stopped developing on Roblox because of this update. I wish Roblox found a better solution rather than just before first to private all audio.

Atleast remove that stupid cap, and let us upload unlimited!

“no bc our terrible moderation will get soo tired. we need mone from this best update. we need this hard limit which is toootally enough to replace all audio in all games. were the best.”

I don’t see why you guys could’ve just improved your copyright moderation. Literally no one likes this update.

Plot twist: Roblox may have wanted you to use their audio as a replacement instead of re-uploading yours. Literally going backwards from their continuing mission to allow more UGC on the platform which they mentioned in the original post despite all this lawsuit speculation.
