Users can enjoy up to 25% more Robux on computer, web and gift cards

true, but I doubt Roblox even has that setup and no, anyone outside the U.S. wouldn’t be able to.
unless using something like scarlet or someother sideloading app but even then thats a hassle and youd need to reload it every 7 days

What was it, July of 2019 or 2021 when they took that 25% away? It doesn’t matter. This is just ROBLOX’s way of saying “Hey, you get 1,000 ROBUX for 10 dollars again!”

Isn’t this the same kind of thing that Epic Games did with Fortnite, which caused the whole thing with Apple, ending in all mobile versions of Fortnite being discontinued?

It’s the App Store and Google Play store fees, it’s to de-incentivize players from paying where there’s a 30% share taken. Being elusive about it isn’t needed, it’s obvious

no that was something to do with their marketing or something but im pretty sure thats why it was taken off the playstore since they werent paying google the money they were taking or something

Ever since you were forced to sell plugins for USD, and the RDC announcement to allow users to sell games for real currency, Robux has been losing value significantly.

Touching up the aforementioned point about games being sold for real currency, it would make no sense for a game to be able to be sold in USD, but gamepasses sold in Robux. This is a pretty good example of the butterfly effect and what we can probably expect of Robux if this keeps going into the future. (No confirmation it will happen to gamepasses, but it would make sense.)

Not to mention, there is a Robux incentive to buying Premium. If real money continues on this route, Robux will be devalued to the point where only traders and UGC creators will have Premium.

If these future updates continue, Robux will only mainly be used to purchase avatar items and devex.

more main points
  • You are forced to buy plugins for USD (unless this was changed)
  • You will soon be allowed to sell games for real currency.
  • Due to the previous point, it would make no sense to be able to buy a game with real money, and gamepasses in robux.
  • This affects developers negatively. Developers probably will get less players than when it was robux, prompting them to make prices higher in exchange for more profit but less players. Not to mention, there’s a high chance this might be forced onto paid-access developers like it was onto plugin developers.
  • To back up my previous point, Roblox incentivises prices of around 50 dollars just for a default share of revenue you’d have on any gamepass, product, or paid access game. This will make developers less overall money, forcing them to make the price higher, essentially making games more expensive, getting them wayy less players, and negating the value of Robux?
  • We don’t know how this will affect existing popular Paid-Access games.
  • This will affect people who already have Robux.
  • This will affect new buyers of Robux.

well the only reason people will have premium is for ugc just to cash out that robux and make it useless

What do you mean you didn’t bother to read through it all? It’s a few paragraphs.

This is awesome, thank you roblox! This is basically a devex increase without a devex increase, happy to see it go in this direction

This prompts most developers to raise their prices to gain the full benefits of this, making this useless for the players. The developers that don’t will still recieve the same amount of robux as normal for their purchases, (unless the passes are like 200 robux each) making this useless for developers.

This results in a decrease in the value of robux (or it staying the exact same) no matter what. It gives the illusion that developers will make more.

However, roblox benefits from this as they circumvent app store fees, etc.

It dkes fix this issue however.

Christmas came early? Not exactly the same as raising devex rates but… close enough.

That’s exactly why developers are going to make more. Robux having a lower value (more robux in the roblox economy) with devex rates being the same means we’re making more on average. More robux devexed = more money made through devex lol.

Partially true, but not really. Users being able to gain more robux means they can spread this out over more purchases.

I mean yes, this means developers get more, but specific developers aren’t really getting more to devex. It’s getting spread through a variety of developers.

Which effectively means almost every developer is getting the same amount from devex as before, with small exceptions, like Fisch. This makes already big developers get more imo

This is awesome.

Developers get ~21c per dollar spent right now.
Apple / Google get 30c per dollar right now.
On desktop, Roblox keeps that 30c for themselves.

A 25% boost means on desktop, devs will now get (21c * 1.25) = 26 cents per dollar spent.
This isn’t quite passing the App Store savings to devs, as we would make 46 cents per dollar.

However I am still happy to see more of this being passed to devs, and I assume Roblox uses the portion they keep to fund things like Premium Payouts. I look forward to a day where Apple & Google aren’t making more money from Roblox Experiences than the developers are.

I don’t understand your point. More robux spread out thru a variety of developers = a variety of developers is making more money.

As a game dev who frequently looks at my stats, I’ve noticed that a lot of ‘Benchmark for top 10k/5k/2.5k games’ stats have decreased significantly since roblox removed the ability for people under 13 to chat on the website. This includes robux-related stats.

Maybe I am reading this wrong, but it suggests that people under 13 are playing less and paying less. Perhaps this update is to offset this damage to income. My game has been growing recently so if this is the case then I wouldn’t notice.

(Although if you ask me, Roblox is deliberately pushing away its younger audience to be seen as a more professional platform and reduce the image of roblox being a platform for blocky kids games. Or maybe i am a conspiracy theorist now.)

A majority of developers will make the same amount of money, as players wouldn’t really just blitz through all the gamepasses of a singular game.

This is different for huge games with a big following and affordable prices, such as Fisch and TDS. Most of this money will go towards already big developers, if that makes sense.

So yes, you’re correct, but I did phrase what I said in a way where no developers profit from this whatsoever.

Also, if everyone raises prices, it’s the exact same as before. If you don’t raise prices, and have a low gamepass amount, you make the same or even less.

Great way to handle Apple & Google’s fee monopoly

I happened to have a $15 that I hadn’t redeemed yet. When I did it on the website version, I didn’t get any extra Robux. Can this be fixed?
