Has anyone been able to use a bluetooth controller in studio?
I have a dualsense controller connected on a windows computer and studio just doesn’t register any inputs from it, making it hard to test things for console.
I know the controller works because in the actual roblox game client, the controller works perfectly fine - it just doesn’t work in studio.
I’m confused because last year I remember my dualsesnse working perfectly fine with studio, both on MacOS and Windows. Around 6-7 months ago it just stopped working for me on all my devices.
I’m able to use a Bluetooth XBox One controller just fine on all applications that support it, which includes Roblox Studio. However, the last time I’ve tested it was over 6-7 months ago, which was when the new Studio Layout was rolled out.
Based on the previous posts I’ve seen, I’ve made some conclusions about this issue:
Users with Windows, and MacOS have testified that they have experienced the same issue. This would suggest that the issue isn’t dependent on the Operating System of the user.
There are some users who suggest that using DS4, or SCP toolkit may fix the issue, but I’m inclined to believe their issue is a different issue from the one we’re talking about, because we know users with this issue are both on MacOS and Windows, and that their controllers work in the Roblox Player, just not in Roblox Studio, which probably suggests it isn’t a PS4 controller driver issue.
I can personally attest to the fact that using an Xbox Controller, and using PS4 controller produces the same result. This would suggest that this isn’t an XInput vs DirectInput issue. If it somehow were, we’d still expect controllers to work in studio in the same way they work for the Roblox Player Client. We know this is Roblox Studio specific.
This issue doesn’t seem to affect everyone. There are some who say their controllers work just fine in Studio. Unfortunately this will delay how much attention this issue gets. The issue has happened with several users, and has been complained about for just under a year according to my knowledge. This must be a recent issue.
