PSA: Verifying the authenticity of third-party tools

  • We were recently made aware of a Visual Studio extension posing as popular third-party extensions, that attempts to install malicious code on the devices it’s downloaded to.

  • We shared a few recommendations and best practices to keep yourself safe when you’re downloading any third-party tools, apps, plugins, or extensions.

Betas and Tests

[Public Beta] Reordering Badges

  • We are proud to announce the Public Beta launch of the Badges Reordering feature! This has been a big ask in the community for many, many years now.

  • Previously, badges were displayed in the order in which they were created. We have now created a new UI to order badges directly on the Creator Hub!

[Beta] Introducing Custom Matchmaking with Custom Signals

  • We’re introducing the beta for Custom Matchmaking so you can control how players are matched in your experiences, as well as define custom signals based on the player’s or server’s attributes.

  • You can start customizing how players are matched in your experience by signing up for early access through our beta program here.

[Client Beta] Introducing TintMask for SurfaceAppearance

  • Now live in Client Beta, you can apply tinting to selective areas of a surface, such as the raised bricks in a brick wall, without affecting the space in between.

Announcements

Launching Data Stores Manager on Creator Hub

  • A new page on Creator Hub that allows experience owners and group members (when configured) to view DataStores Information such as:

    • List of DataStores
    • List of Entries per DataStore
    • Entry Values
    • List of Versions per Entry
    • Version comparisons
    • Storage metrics

DataStores Access and Storage Updates

  • Updating our limits for DataStores access and storage to ensure Roblox services can continue to scale as the community grows. Here are the top takeaways:

    • We’re moving DataStore access limits from per-server to per-experience and increasing these limits substantially; updated limits will take effect in early 2026.

    • We’re introducing a total storage limit for DataStores, that scales with lifetime experience users and is dramatically higher than most per-user usage today; new limits will take effect in early 2026.

      • Out of the top 55 million experiences, there is a very small number of experiences, less than 30 total, that are currently over the limit. These limits will not impact the vast majority of experiences.

      • If your experience is over the limit, you would have already received a DevForum inbox message with more details on how to prep for early 2026.

Bodysuits Now Have a Price Floor

  • Any layered clothing item that covers the body below the head will be automatically classified as a Bodysuit, regardless of which asset category it’s published in.

  • Bodysuits will be given a price floor to more appropriately reflect the value these items bring to users. This includes both new and already-published items on the Marketplace.

Official List of Deprecated Web Endpoints

  • We’re following up on our previous deprecation notice for a v1 route on inventory-api. We are delaying this deprecation as we reassess the API offering and support.

price floors need to be deleted, nobody wants them, and it just negatively affects everyone

that datastore storage thing might either end up breaking everything for new or small projects, or it just kinda happens and everyone forgets about it

at least those other updates seem to be useful, but still

For every good update there is a 50% chance of a bad update coming out right after.

Price floors are annoying and I agree. Creators should be able to sell for whatever price feels best to them. A bunch of stuff is set to the lowest price floor possible regardless of roblox’s “efforts” to make developers base prices on quality instead of competing to be the lowest cost.

while the marketplace entry barrier is lower now, if they make me give away my ID, credit card, subscribe to premium and spend robux on fees to upload UGC, i would prefer having control over it’s sale prices instead of roblox just throwing random values around and nullifying my (hypothetical) sales (i don’t want to give away my ID, i can’t currently perform online transactions and im not exactly sure if the marketplace is actually reliable or not)

Rootmotion has been in development (Documentation) for such a long time, is there a release date for it?

This needs to be a thing so badly. I’ve been waiting for it for honestly too long. They need to bring back clouds too while they’re at it. So many good features are being held back just to bring out useless things that no one really needs that badly.

Walking back that data storage update would be awesome! I love allowing players of my small game able to make constant progression over multiple save slots without worry of the game not getting popular enough to save their progress.

Yeah, to be honest I’ve been desperate for root motion for the past 2 or more months for that feature. Having to apply Walk/Velocity manually is really frustuating and jank.

What is rootmotion? Do you have a any links you can share?

Clouds have been live for a while… or are you talking about something else?

That’s not what I’m talking about. They’ve said something about clouds being paused on being worked on. There’s multiple phases that they promised but we’re still stuck in the ugly cloud phase where you can’t go through them either or change the height of them.

Actually price floors don’t negatively affect everyone. Many creators are benefiting off of the higher price floors and they are generating more revenue. I also think it’s a good way of pricing on the marketplace because it represents the real world supply and demand and how prices can go up when there’s more demand for them. I don’t even believe the prices are that high up and they are affordable for anyone.
