Launching Data Stores Manager on Creator Hub

Hi Creators,

We are excited to announce the release of a Data Stores Manager on Creator Hub. This is a new page on Creator Hub that allows experience owners and group members (when configured) to view DataStores Information such as:

  1. List of DataStores
  2. List of Entries per DataStore
  3. Entry Values
  4. List of Versions per Entry
  5. Version comparisons
  6. Storage metrics: additional insights of what is stored in your Data Stores, including the number of data stores, number keys, and total size of your data to assist in optimization of usage.

The page can be accessed under the Data Stores Manager tab on the experience level in Creator Hub. Documentation can be found here.

What’s Next

We will be expanding on the Data Stores Manager by adding new functionalities such as more detailed metrics, editing and more!

We hope that this page provides greater observability into your DataStores usage! Please let us know if you encounter any issues or have any questions.

Thank you!

This is honestly a BIG win for the devs, Being able to actually see and manage DataStores like this makes optimization way easier, especially for large-scale games. The version comparasions and the storage metrics are SUCH underrated tools too. Props to the team for making something thats genuinely useful, So looking forward to seeing how this evolves

oh my goodness this is a phenomenal addition! This will make checking people’s data much easier since there’s no need to boot up studio to use a plugin. I cannot wait to try this out!! Thank you so much

Absolutely loving this update! :tada: :ocean: The new Data Stores Manager is such a helpful addition, will there be any support for restoring deleted entries or rollback options in the future? That would be super helpful too!

This is AWESOME!

I always wondered how much data you can store in total, but I didnt know it was almost 7 TERABYTES. (depends per game, I would assume)

Also, this is pretty unfortunate:

Using DataStore2 at any point = not being able to view number of keys or size :frowning:

Hope this gets expanded to allow for GDPR requests at some point.

Will editing in the future include bulk actions? Examples include:

  • Deleting and updating many entries at once.
  • Deleting entire data store when no longer needed.
  • Deleting all data stores as some like myself have made mistake of creating a data store for each player, which resulted in over 100K data stores being created with no way of fixing the problem.
  • Rolling back data store to certain restore point.
  • Querying data.
  • Exporting all data from a data store, useful as requirements can change and developer may want to migrate to an external database.

Well, wonder what’s gonna happen to that one DataStore manager plugin
At least it means I don’t have to open Studio every time to edit DataStores now.

Love this new feature. But any reason why I cannot see the size of specific keys in a datastore instead of the full size of a datastore?
And what does the storage limit actually mean? Does it mean we can have more data than 4MB in a key now?

I don’t have permissions to view this for our game but when I try, it gives a 404 error instead of a permissions error. I suspect this is not intentional.

I can’t access the page on mobile, the link is there in the navigation but it leads to a 404. I’ve cleared my cache

second this

DataDelve will stay relevant for now due to having better UI and features IMO

Is this an experience you own? For group experiences where you’re not the group owner the group owner must configure some permissions for you to view. If its your experience please give me your universe id and I’ll take a look

Instead of saying 404 page not found can you change it to ‘You don’t have permission to access this feature’ instead for roles not configured to view it because right now it just seems like the page is failing to load

So at what point does storage limit increases??? is it based on the player size (in game) or how large the game is

Having a built in data store manager that doesn’t even have to be used exclusively through studio is great! I’m so glad I won’t have to use buggy and unreliable third party plug-ins anymore. I can’t wait for the ability to delete and modify values as this would make editing individual data stores so much easier.

Yes, this will be a fast follow.

When will these data size limits go into effect? We are currently WAYYYY over the limit. I have no clue how I’m going to migrate to my new data system for old users. I’m currently in progress of making my new data system, but it’s nowhere near ready. This is all very worrying for our team.
