Amplify Your Experiences with New Music

Awesome more music, but its disappointing that we are still limited with the audios we can upload and have, as music and sound are really important in a game. It would be nice if Roblox could find a work around so we could use popular songs once again.

Frankly, we’re hitting rock bottom here… I just have one question… WHY? Why is the audio YOU distribute somehow “PRIVATE”?? It’s just nonsense! So in the DRC you talk about sharing music… and do you need authorization to use Distrokid music? So why isn’t it the same with the audio of APM, Monstercat and Clippsy? your audio limitation is becoming really stupid… Moreover I sincerely hope that creators who want to share their music will not have to go through distrokid because in addition to paying there is NO guarantee that the music will be added to roblox.

I hope for changes regarding this decision. (Even I absolutely don’t believe it)

Does anyone know where the form is to get access to distribute to Roblox with DistroKid? It’s legit next month and I can’t find it.

This is super annoying. Many games that allow the user to play audio or make stuff (such as Obby Creator and Admin House) depend on audio to enhance the experience.

I can’t even play a newly added sound effect in those games; it always outputs:

I have distributed my own music on this platform through distrokid will there be a future update to allow my music to be used in any experience, including radios and other ways to play music through sources without the developer having the audio like the public roblox audio if i opt into it?

Hey @darthanonymous1 and @daredddvr

I made a quick video to show the workflow of how a dev would add Distrokid music to their experience. It’s cumbersome, but it works.

It sucks because a dev cannot keep up with the pace of user-generated content, whether it be a song or a sound effect.

It would be cool if certain audio partners had different tiers. The lowest tier would make all audio with the partner developer’s approval. The highest tier would make the partnered audio playable in all games, regardless of circumstance.

This would make it so things like DistroKid would be developer approval, and partners that initially had “the highest tier” (such as Clippsly) would keep its “tier”.

I know how to add to my own experience. I want my music to be playable in other experiences where i dont have access

Roblox turned off public sharing of audio a few years ago. Recently they allowed public sharing of sound effect files, but only for short files (eg: 10 seconds or less).

Right now the only way to share a music track with everyone on Roblox is to upload it to Distrokid and choose Roblox as a distribution option.

Is there any word on when group games will be able to use DistroKid songs? I literally just discovered the limitation right now as I was browsing the toolbox for songs for a radio system I was making. (Just for Christmas as well, bummer.)

Hey @Almonty7655

  1. If you follow the video I posted above, you should be able to add Distrokid songs both to your personal inventory (step 1), and then add them to the Group Experience.
  2. We made a free boombox plugin which is already a fully-functioning radio player (with song browsing, queues, and favorites) – give it a try and let us know what you think.

I followed it expecting it to error but surprisingly it worked.

I already did kinda dumb that u have to get developers to add ur song

what a great update. ‘dj skibidi’

and the fact they had to use numbers and letters combination to spell it out is absolutely awful :sob:

Ok cool, but if I search bell ring can I not get a bunch of punch sound effects and songs?

What about covers of famous songs that were distributed through distrokid then on to Roblox? I found a cover of “everybody wants to rule the world” on the marketplace, however I fear that this could lead to a copyright strike towards my game. Is this something I have to worry about?

i just hope roblox add newer apm music or make button for add all distrokid audios permission to game. not even public audio method just make each game devs add permission.

Yes, absolutely. Cover songs will get moderated. Anything on Roblox has to be completely royalty free in regards to publishing rights, mechanical, and performance (the three types of music rights).

Try our audio search tool (Dev Forum link) – use the genre and emotion buttons – you would be surprised at the number of good music tracks on Roblox – they are just hard to find.
